We cycled here from Beppu having brought our tandem with us to Japan. It’s a slow uphill climb but the incline never becomes very steep it’s just constant. 2 km from the main road at a well signed junction you head up the valley to a small car park with an attendant and small covered eating area with only a drinks vending machine. There is a small charge for car parking but not bikes.
It’s just a 5 minute walk up a well trodden rocky path with steps to the waterfall. Very peaceful, great for a picnic, shady due to the high cliffs.
We cycled onto Usa which was mainly downhill. The roads get busier towards Usa but then we got the train back to Beppu having visited USA Jingu a lovely tranquil sanctuary. Great excursion!!

Best accessed by car and inexplicably there is a shop set up for the sole purpose of collecting fees for parking. Short, slightly muddy walk on narrow trail to a tall, narrow waterfall. Nice opportunity for "forrest bathing." There is a local attractions map at the trail head

A very beautifull place in autumn when the leefs are turning red. You can walk really near the waterfall or you can admire it from the upper site view.

About 20 minutes from the town of Ajimu-machi, this is a beautiful place to see! There is a 10 minute trail from the parking lot that follows the stream to the waterall through a canyon with steep walls and thick vegetation. The path is wet and slippery and downright treacherous in some spots but the views are lovely. The waterfall is narrow and falls 279 feet (85 meters) down a straight cliff to a pool below.

There is no charge to see the falls, but parking is 200 yen for cars. There is a bathroom facility near the parking lot.
