We had a nice stroll along the narrow stoned walking path of this Usuki old historic houses district. We can see traditional samurai houses, temples, sake bar and shops from olden time. During our visit, there is Usuki Dolls festival as well so the area was very crowded with lots of Japanese seniors. There is huge display of paper dolls... More

This historic road is probably the best part of Usuki next to the Usuki Sekibutsu. The road is quiet ad peaceful, and there are probably not too many other places in Japan with a whole road full of historic houses and temples. This historical road is lined with temples and ancient homes. The road, paved with stones, is an uphill/downhill walk with curves and bends. The road is quiet with peaceful streets with few vehicles, but do keep an eye open for the infrequent car which seems to come from nowhere. There were very few tourists when we were there and it...
