Its bit far from the Kyoto but well-connected by train (2hrs from kyoto). Good for cycling near beach, relax, enjoy the amusement park (accessible by cable car /chair ride), enjoy the view of bridge to heaven!

Amanohashidate is a great place to visit and just get away. I recommend going for a half day. You can stop and grab coffee at JouJou's near the train station and then walk over the sandbar. It's really quite beautiful, especially at sunrise or sunset....More

I saw the view from both Kasamatsu park and View land in the end of December. It was lightly raining, but still beautiful. Worth going. Both side has great view restaurant where you can have hot drink and fresh sashimi rice ball (kaisekidon). Crab season...More

yes they have for kids too ... and also for young 3-4 years old they have bikes with the small child seat in front .. they got every type of bikes there ..
