The monument is visible almost from anywhere in the city. But while the historical part of the city is crammed with thousands of tourists, this place is relatively calm. And there are some other reasons for visiting (even when you aren't Christian). The first one is a great view from the surrounding garden. You can also pay a small fee... More

You can see this monument from most places in Lisbon and you must make the effort to visit it when you are there. We took the 10 minute ferry over to Cacilhas to see this very impressive and not to be missed Cristo Rei monument. Once you are off the boat jump on the 101 bus (1.45 Euros) that takes you... More

Cristo Rei is a place that you must visit while in Lisbon (or nearby). The local offers for free the best view of Lisbon, from the entrance of the ocean, until the interior bay that makes the division between Lisbon and South Margin (Almada, Cacilhas, and many other places). In case you have the time and the money, you must... More

Summary: The view is excellent. To get to the view takes a ferry, a wait, and a 15minute shuttle bus journey. Then the same back. Pros: the view, the van that sells cocktails just prior to the view, and the hilarious sacred choral muzak pumped into the surrounding area as you approach His Tallness Cons: the ferry isn't amazing, the... They started to built this statue in 1950 with the sculptor Francisco Franco de Sousa and the architect Antonio Lino. The famous statue of Rio de Janeiro served as a model, but this one seems a bit stiff and monolithic. From the close you becomes an impression of their size, the whole construction measures 110 and the christ statue itself... More

Replica of christ the redeemer statue in Brazil, although on a smaller scale. Not easily accessible from the main Lisbon attractions with the usual public transport systems. Can get busy. Inaugurated in 1959, it is 3rd largest pilgrimage site in the Iberian peninsula. You have the chapel of Nossa Senhora da Paz inside.

Spectacular views of Lisbon the Tagus river and the 25 de Abril bridge. Pretty impressive there is a small chapel up top. My girlfriend and I really enjoyed the visit. A great place to get photos of Lisbon.

It's well worth taking the commuter ferry over to Cacilhas to see the impressive Cristo Rei monument. Return trip from Cais do Sodre is 3 euros. The ferry journey takes about 10 minutes. Once you dock at Cacilhas get the 101 bus that stops right at the ferry terminal. A fee of 1.45 euros will take you right to the... More

Even when you only can access thought a hidden elevator it worth the effort to get up. The panoramic over the river and Lisbon town is amazing! You can see both long bridges (Vasco de Gama & 25 April) as well as the coast villages (Cascais and the neighborhood). You can go with young children since the terrace is well... More
