We only took this down the mountain to get a different view than the hike up. It's lovely. We were really fortunate to get a car with two others - some of the cars were packed and the lines were long. Still, as with everything in Japan, it was well managed, efficient and a great experience.

It gets you up there, but at least with the crowds we experienced, not a particularly enjoyable experience

A good way to make reaching the peak of Mt Misen that bit easier, the rope way includes 2 cable cars up to an observatory. It's a shame there's not a viewing deck at the first changeover. Have given 4 as I think it needs upgrading.

We did not have all day and had spent at lot of our trip walking so it was nice to sit down and admire the view up and down. We were on the first of two cable cars by 10am and back down again by about 12.30pm. We did not queue bu the queues were forming by noon so go... More

This would be a nice place to visit if you like to hike. It's a fair walk (or shuttle bus ride) from the ferry station. Once you get to the top, it's very pretty to see the inland sea and the islands.

The Ropeway is a convenient and scenic way to ascend up Mt. Misen. The views are beautiful from the station, however if you want to get to the top of Mt. Misen, you still have to climb a considerable distance.

After getting into the island by 9am I did a walk through the a shrine and took photos of O-Torii Gate and then walked up to the Rope way about 10 am. I walked straight into the rope way cabin and then immediately into the cable car to the Shiwiina station at the top. When I came down about 12.15pm... More

While the island is lovely, the ropeway was a key attraction for us on our day trip from Kyoto to Miyajima. We walked from the ferry to the ropeway terminal. The walk is slightly steep but it dint make sense to wait in line for the bus which comes every 20 mins. The walk was actually very pretty with streams... More

Allow at least one hour to do the return trip, which still doesn't really allow spending much time at the top. Don't leave your visit until the end of the day, otherwise it is too rushed.

The views are good from the top of the ropeway of Hiroshima and the local islands and even better from the very top of the mountain (25/30 min walk/climb from top of ropeway). I gave it 4* but really the views are good but not spectacular and it is expensive.
