We took a short 10-minute ferry ride to Miyajima on a very hot day. There are two ferry companies that runs and JR pass will allow you to catch the JR ferry for free. We took many beautiful pictures as we approached the island. Once...More

Cannot say that there is recommended to stay over night due to much attractions. No matter what time is the stunning view always catches my eye. It deserves the one of top 3 Japanese sceneries. I still miss it after leaving there. The harbor is...More

To start with, we visited Japan in July 2018 and it was DEAD, we literally had the whole place to ourselves and really felt like we were the only tourists everywhere we went. My comments might not apply in high-season. I IMAGINE, in high-season, this...More

Beautiful shrine. Definitely worth going out there when the tide is low and again at night time when the light illuminate the shrine! If you are ti visit you should stay at Miyajima Guesthouse! Best cheap stay on the island :D

Taking the ferry over to Miyajima island is a treat in and of itself! We took a cab up to the cable car and went all the way to the top of the mountain via Cable car, then hiked all the way to the top...More

Hiroshima is a nice city but, for a tourist and beyond the historic side, it is a place near to Miyajima. The tori, submerged during high tide, is the cover of many touristic brochures all over the world and that's not all. The temple, not...More

We visited on July 6 and the trains and train delays had the greatest impact on our trip there. Miyajima itself and the ferries had limited impact.

Hi Kevin, I would suggest less than half day would be sufficient, please check weather forecast as if it’s raining then other than lunch you may not able to spend time on Miyajima Island
