30 minutes boat ride thru canal enjoying the scenery, houses and passing thru bridges, some so low that everyone had to bend down. The boat driver would sing to entertain the boat riders.

It is the perfect trip/activity for anyone who wants a chilled thing to do. I went in the winter and they had a blanket over a table with a heater underneath. Lost one star because it was slightly crowded on the boat.

I enjoyed my boat ride very much. It was slow and leisurely, allowing you time to take in the views along the riverbank. Autumn may not come with cherry blossom but the willow trees lined the banks, no wonder this place is named Yanagawa 柳川....More

I came at the best timing when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom. There are also plum and peach blossoms along the canal banks. It was a fairly cloudy day and the temperature was around 17 degrees, it was cooling and comfortable. The hour...More

You can take train from the city centre of fukuoka to this place. It's a kind of old village, you can go to take a river boat trip and enjoy sightseeing around this place. Also, the boatman will talk about some history, the background of...More

We had got a ticket which included the train, boat trip and a meal. It cost just over 5000 yen each and was good value. As the train was going into Yanagawa it looked like a really big city and my first thought was this...More

The boatman does provide blanket for you to cover yourself. However, there is nothing much for you to see in winter. The commentary is conducted in Japanese. I recommend doing it in spring where at least there are some... More
