The climb, as you've no doubt have read, starts out incredibly leisurely. Not a care in the world. Just walking and appreciating the beautiful scenery. Once arriving at the base of Nabewari, you start actually climbing...stairs. So many stairs. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they were built as without them, the hike would've been tricky, but every so often... More

I read about a few mountains in the Tanzawa Oyama Quasi National Park area and decided on Mt Nabewari primarily because of the nabeyaki udon stall at the summit. The first 5k of the hike is super easy and relaxing. First cross the street from the Okura bus stop follow the signs through the rural neighborhood and stroll along the wide leisurely path.
