Extensive Collection
Dec 2017 • Couples
Poster boards in English provide enough detailed explanation to make this extensive Collection understandable for the typical visitor. Delicate intricate jewelry different from other museums in the area.

Great museum with many exhibits
Jul 2017
This museum is just great....you have so many exhibits dating back to 1000 before Christ, it is just great.
Much is written in Italian only, but there are explanations in English ( the staff sticks to Italian only).
Everything is well presented, and there is an archaelogical site to be seen.
We visited this place on an extremely hot day, it is better if it is cooler, than you can walk outside, too.
The museum was hot, not climatised, but very, very interesting, anyway.

Not to be missed!

There are so many treasures in this museum. A definite must-see. It is a shame that it is so far off the beaten or tourist track as the contents are a valuable addition to Italy's overall collection.

Worth the stop
Aug 2016 • Solo
If you like history archeology, fine art and beautiful jewelry, then you need to stoop and visit. This is part of the ancient road that passed through Calabria and southern Italy. Once called METAPONTUM, It has a large complex of ancient temples close by, and the name meant half way point. People would stop rest and pray to the deities before going forward in travels. Greek and Roman temples dot the area.

Fascinating National Museum both inside and round about outside

The Greeks came along, discovered the amazing plain which goes for miles and miles, good enough to feed plenty of armies. Don't be put off by the slightly tired exterior this is a real treat even for non cultural of us. We enjoyed exploring the ruins outside and you feel so close to history, a treat in store

Passionate work of an archaeologist of Romanian origin
Jan 2016 • Friends
Extremely impressive the archaeological activity of the Romanian Dinu Adamesteanu , loved , honored and recognized in Italy more than in Romania :(

Nice place
Jun 2016 • Solo
You will find more than you expect.Price 3.50 euro , that's very very cheap.Very easy to find , just follow the sign at the exit of the main road (SS105) and you will find the museum on the right coming from the centre of Policoro. There are lots of pottery and items which were found in the tombs.Jewells very very modern , we could sell them nowdays (my opinion).
After the museum there is a little street on the right , just follow it to see the rest of the old towm.

Good regional museum
Apr 2016 • Couples
It's a good regional museum with a good collection of pottery, terracotta figurines, Greek amphorae, and gold jewelry. The exhibition is fairly small. There's a good size parking lot at the museum. The parking is free. The admission is €2.50. If you intend to take pictures they require you to sign an agreement to use the images for non-commercial purposes.

Huge museum with a archeological site behind it
May 2016 • Couples
All artifacts are on the ground floor, wheelchair accessible. No Endlish facts but the artifacts speak for themselves. The side can be walked or driven too but is up hill either by stairs or a rough road. Again a huge site.

Full of Stuff
Apr 2016 • Couples
Found by accident a museum full of stuff excavated in the adjacent fields. Hundreds of artefacts in well preserved condition. An example of workmanship that would put modern craftsmen to shame. Only us in and closed behind us as we left at 3pm? On Saturday.Worth a visit if in the area for €2.50
