Walked up there from town on a chilly Fall day and it was rather mystical. Looking at what it probably looked like before it was mostly destroyed in 1796 was interesting but wished we had seen that picture before we went. Rooms were labeled in German so some English would have been helpful. Konigstein is an attraction in itself and... More

Some castles (and castle ruins) are not very tourist accessible, but this one you pay a small admission and can really explore the depths as much as you wish. I hear Burgfest is a great time to visit, but we just couldn't make our trip any other time.

Burg Königstein castle was a great hike. There is a train station in town that we should've taken from Frankfort. Instead, we took the train to Kronberg and walked from there. It took over an hour. The best part was heading toward the castle and stumbling on Burg Falkenstein in the woods. While it was closed, step a few paces... More

We love visiting castles like this. According to our personal opinion, this place is beautiful. The view to the city. At the time we visited the ruins, there was a city festival. So many people were there. A very nice coincidence for us. The children loved it.

Königstein is a very nice place and there is a tower and it has beautiful view on it. You can park in the city and you have to walk up, but it is not a problem, it´s worth it.

We were there for an event being held on the grounds. The event is the only thing that redeemed our trip. Wouldn't have been worth the trip for the castle alone.

The view from the fortress is really beautiful , if you lucky enough to have good weather you can see the skyline of frankfurt and also Großer Feldberg. Highly recommended !

We did walk up to and around the castle. Whilst it is a great place to go and see, to be fair, it would be better in the sunshine. Cost is great at €3 each to get in, something English Heritage and National Trust could take note of... Do take a hike up the central tower and get the cobwebs... More

The ruin is visible from various parts of the town Königstein. It is located in walk distance from the town center and is it quiet easy to get there, whilst walking for a few minutes in the nature.

if you are staying at the nearby hotel, these ruins are a very short run away, if you make it all the way to the top it is a very nice spot to relax and if the weather is good has very nice views over frankfurt
