Woke up very early in the morning as we foresee there is a lot of people. You to pay entrance fees to the park and take a bus to another location and pay separate mini van ride to the top of the mountain. Lake was not very clear during our visit as there are lots of cloud covering the lake.... More

This is the most amazing sight of my entire trip. As the Siberian winds meet the moist oceanic winds here the weather can be very unpredictable. The probability of being able to see the Tianchi is about 20% anytime of the year. There are also occasions that you cannot even get up the mountain. And if you do get up... More

We have been there since 2009 for three times. Only this time we are able to see the giant lake on the mountain. Breathtaking

We started off for Changbai Mountain early in the morning. We waited there at the entrance for our tour guide to get tickets. It was noted that adults at 65 or above would have free admission. However, they had to buy separate tickets for shuttle bus to go up the mountain. Our itineraries included hot spring, Tianchi (crater lake), waterfall... More

Spent three days in the Changbaishan area. We travelled from Shenyang on the overnight train in a soft sleeper and booked into one of the budget hotels in Baishan. Our first day was spent just walking around the town and trying some of the local food. Being home to a large ethnic Korean population there are some great Korean BBQ... More

The journey is a good two hours because of buses and crowds. There a also 1600 steps to climb. But the view on a clear day is worth it. There is also a stone there that suggests one side is China and the other North Korea so you get a chance to step into North Korea. But strangely no border... More

Spectacular volcano with mesmerising lake in the crater at the top. Very popular with Chinese and Korean tourists. Very exciting bus journey to the top. North side is good you can see waterfalls and stay at nearby lanjing hotel with volcanic spa.

My group of 24 used the southern approach. Your bus/car to the mid point, their bus to stairs, you walk up. crowded. go early. No smoking, maybe the only place in China it seems to be strictly enforced. When you take the bus secure your gear, wear your seatbelt. it is a fast and rough 40 minute ride, On the... More

We got lucky with the weather, a beautiful, sunny day. But be prepared, the temperature drops fast as you go up the mountain. Even the road to the top is amazing, as you climb twists and turns in a 4wd vehicle. The top, and the Heavenly Lake, is beautiful. Don't miss going to the waterfalls!

Two years ago, I went to Chang Bai Mountain only because of a movie named Tomb Notes. However, when I got there, I have seen a big and lively ski facility. I never ski before, so I were too nervous to wear the skiing equipment. So that my parents let me sitting there to watch others skiing. But I quite... More
