Hard to find but if in the area worth a visit. Sits down the end of a little track. Park up in small car park and then a walk. It's a ruin but I it's time must have been stunning, pity not completely rebuilt. Views...More

Not much to say. Just nice place to visit if you are around. Especially at sunset. Lovely view from the hill. Be aware they close the gate at 6pm

Not much left of this house ,which is allegedly the house beautiful from pilgrims progress . With a bit of imagination you could see what it was like. But lovely for a quiet summer's picnic away from it all

Passed this so many times as I live about 7 miles away.. a dramatic ruin of what must have been an amazing house. Breathtaking view. Small car park and short walk to ruins. Free to wander around

Considering the fact that a visit to Houghton House is free of charge, it is well worth a look. The house is entirely in ruins but the remains are extensive and give a good idea of what the original house would have looked like. This,...More

The ruins of a former hunting lodge which was built in 17th century for Countess of Pembroke. Some features by Inigo Jones. Parking about 500m away then walk up. Well signposted & interesting signs. Maintained by English Heritage. No entry fee. Pleasant views

While out for a walk locally came across the ruins of Houghton House which is looked after by English Heritage. Entry is free and there are a few informative notice boards around the site. Great views over the surrounding countryside.

I saw two people with dogs at the house when we were there. The property adjacent does also have dogs, and they were pretty friendly.
