- Matthew BIreland’s Ancient East, Ireland27 contributionsMy First Ride Out. .We all have our bucket lists. Mine do not involve skydiving or a penthouse in the Waldorf Astoria. One of mine for a very long time has been to go Horse Riding. I think they are a beautiful animal and I always imagined that it took quite a bit of skill and bravery for a person to sit on one and go for a good canter never mind a race. My better half understood my feelings on this and for my 43 Birthday took me horse riding. I can't say enough about Abbeyfield and their staff. Darragh had we well sized up. Apparently when the booking was made as a surprise and my dimensions were supplied "now he's 6'3" and 19 stone", Darragh wasn't phased. "I've just the Horse for him". My horses name was "Hooch" and I have no idea how many hands Hooch is, except to say I'd describe him as single storey. Barbara, one of the riders and staff, after supplying a steplader, brilliantly gave me a crash course on which end I was to face and how I was to sit. Although I only interacted with Darragh and Barbra, there seemed to be a great team spirit about the place. I could keep writing about this day but I'll stop so as to finish with the main point of my review. Great day, great staff. I'll be back. See you soon Hooch.Visited July 2020Travelled as a coupleWritten 4 August 2020
- Aoife GNewbridge, Ireland2 contributionsA wonderful experience. We had such a brilliant afternoon horse riding at Abbyfield farm. From the minute we arrived we were so well looked after. The team in the yard are so professional and friendly and we instantly relaxed and felt safe. We were a family of four at different levels of ability but Grainne and Eva catered for all of us in such a seamless and easy way. I highly recommend Abbyfield farm.Visited August 2020Travelled with familyWritten 11 August 2020

My favourite part was the horseriding experience. I felt safe with the professional hands of Daragh and "Hooch".

Brought my 12 year old daughter here for an hour long horse riding session. She is an experienced rider and joined in with the group there. The staff were absolutely amazing with her and she loved every second of the experience. Booking was easy with Darragh and it was great value for money. We will most definitely be back soon.

Exceptional facility with lots of fun stuff to do with kids. We did air rifles and horse riding. Dara and his family are off the charts friendly and helpful. Couldn’t have made it a better experience. Great family day out!

We travelled from Limerick for the trek after hearing amazing things and we weren’t disappointed. We had such an amazing experience from start to finish at abbeyfield. Darragh brought us on the trek and couldn’t have been more welcoming and encouraging… we left with the biggest smiles across our faces and haven’t stopped talking about it since!! Couldn’t recommend this highly enough!

My family spent two nights in Maynooth/Clane. The Air B&B included a brochure for Abbeyfield Farm and my daughter asked if we could do archery. I wasn't sure what to expect, but let me say, it was pretty epic. Daragh gave us an overview of how to use the bows and arrows and by the end of an hour, we were all experts thanks to his help and that of his young assistant who set up games and other competitions for us. We had a wonderful time and as a result are considering getting an archery set for our back yard. This is a fantastic place for families, groups or parties. Next time we are in Ireland, we will totally go back and try the clay pigeon shooting!!!
My daughter Fiona (age 12) wants to say, "It was very fun, and if you want to hit a bullseye every time listen to the instructions closely like my dad did, so you can win all of the games. And be sure to ask questions, because there was stuff I didn't know about that could have made me a better archer. Don't be shy! Everyone is really nice. At the end of it, I felt like Katniss Everdeen!"

Very rude on the phone. I was enquiring for my daughter to do horse riding lessons at 9:30pm. Mobile number I rang was very rude and said please look at the clock and hung up. No times stated on their website for opening hours. I know it was a bit late but no need for that attitude.

We were recommended to Abbeyfield from Kilkea Castle and it was fabulous! Dara took excellent care of us! The ride was exactly what I was hoping for in Ireland and I wish I had time to go back again and again! I strongly recommend you visit this special family owned farm!
