This high point on the South Downs Way is well worth the effort of getting up there. Unfortunately for us, our arrival at the top coincided with that of the rain that then proceeded to get more and more heavy! The views were good but on a clear day, you must be able to see even further. The surrounding countryside... More

You can get a bus from Brighton which takes you up to Ditching Beacon. You can see for miles over the Sussex countryside from the top. Stunning on a clear day.

A narrow and winding road but worth it. Fabulous views across Sussex and beyond. Enjoyable walking, ample parking in the early evening, lots of dog walkers but no problem. Take binoculars.

What an absolutely stunning view! It's just a car park with viewing area. Lots of cyclists and walkers set off from this point. The view is breathtaking. Spare the time to pull off the road and enjoy the view of you are on the ditchling road. And it's free! And there is an ice cream van most days....

Starting in Ditchling village walking up the beacon to breathtaking views over the South Downs made a nice change from cycling up the hill as part of the London to Brighton annual ride. With plenty of places to have a sit down and just enjoy the splendour of the countryside the beacon is a real beauty spot a worth the... More

We stopped off on the way back to London to have a walk and an Ice-Cream. Quaint way to leave the £2 parking in an envelope !

Parked at the top of the hill and took a short walk along the downs for some great views. The National Trust car park is quite small, and on a sunny sunday there was a queue for spaces. £2 per visit, only payable by RingGo, (no ticket machine). Ice cream van but no toilets

Great walk up to the beacon from streat - the view from the top spectacular as usual - dodging the showers and a swift walk back down into Ditchling for a pint. Perfect morning out !
