Traveling in October & late in the day we had the entire convent to ourselves. The architecture is beautiful {circa 1562-1700s}. Our quiet peaceful self guided tour was wonderful. Great views of the City and spots for picture taking. A must do in Izamal.

Izamal is a hidden gem, a beautiful city. Pope John Paul II held a mass in this atrium in the 80's so a lot of people attend mass there. The church inside is really beautiful and spacious (plus it helps safeguard you form the afternoon...More

This one surprised me. I almost didn't want to stop here. It is very picturesque. The convent has an interesting story and is worth a wonder around. The two main town squares were great...exactly what you imagine a small town Mexican town square to be....More

We enjoyed our short walk around the grounds here, noting the statute of the Pope who visited a few years ago. There's an interesting story about the lady of the church. There may be more here than we saw, but it all depends on how...More

The city is pretty, and is a nice walkthrough. Climb the local ruin for a great view! The local markets are nice afterwards for coconut water and souvenirs.

I was there and the grass was very yellow. I think the grass gets the water from the rain, so it depends of the time you visit. The place is nice. Since there's no much to do in Izamal, this is a must.

This is a "magnifico" architecture and this famous yellow color becomes gold at sunset. I had a peacefull walk through the corridor and under those multiple arches. Photos just talk

This is the place in the center I bring guests for lunch. There are usually lots of people for watching, interesting drinks and traditional Mayan food that everyone seems to enjoy! Sit out back and enjoy the open air... the tortilla are hand made on...More
