We were sight-seeing and came up to this park. It is beautiful, well-kept and has some attractions. There were kids on the fountains, there was shade under old trees and everybody seemed happy. We enjoyed it.

Was in the downtown area in the afternoon just driving around and happened upon Washington Park. What made us drop in was some art/crafts fair was happening. There were lots of people enjoying the booths of crafts and families playing in the park. Not sure...More
While the area is certainly 'on the edge', it is safe and well-lit and not far from lots of restaurant and shopping opportunities. The park itself has water features, playgrounds and a lot of open space. Parking is about $6

Clean, beautiful and inviting! The park was decorated and festive. We heard that there had been a blue grass concert the night prior. Wonderful place to walk and picnic with a view of the Music Hall building.
