I visited the cemetery with my brother, sister, and their spouses. They are all long time Atlanta residents. We took the tour narrated by a Cemetery volunteer. We had a group of nine people on the tour which lasted about 90 minutes. Our tour guide,...More

I am not ghoulish, but I never get tired of Oakland Cemetary. At 48 acres, this historic and beautiful place can be whatever you want it to be. It can be a good walk, a focused look at a single section, a guided tour that...More

Visited the GORGEOUS Oakland Cemetery. View the Confederate Monument in the center. This monument made the past feel more real and got me thinking about the civil war. Would be a great spot to view to connect to the civil war. A stunning walk through.

This is a great place to visit even if you're not a "cemetery person". There are great views of the city and cool pictures to be had in front of classic mausoleums. Check their website for upcoming events and special Halloween tours.

A good cemetery for those who like to visit them. It is pretty big and worth taking water if you plan to walk through probably any time of year. They have by far the largest civil war section I've seen traveling through Southern cemeteries. What...More

Might sound creepy, but cemetery afficionados will appreciate when I say this is one of the best. They have a great map that lays out "famous" plots, and there is the Harris plot over against a wall that you simply have to look in the...More

I actually found the grounds to be very uneven so I recommend sneakers, but if you stay on just the paved areas, then sandals.
