I took the subway several times while in NYC as a tourist. Its pretty confusing for tourists to navigate. The busy stations have an attendant that you can ask questions and purchace tickets from. The waiting area gets quite hot, there is no AC there....More

On our recent trip to New York City we purchased the 7 day unlimited MetroCard for $33 per adult. We were staying in Long Island City and found this card great value for money, using it multiple times each day as we navigated Manhattan Island....More

Not as scary and difficult as you might think. The signs and maps are pretty clear once you go over them a few times. Just try it!

Strange place, sweat box and not the nicest place around. People have no patience and not a very easy system for tourists to understand the first time.

After speaking to many friends we're happy we decided to try this popular and busy public transportation system. The only difficulty was determining east and west but New Yorkers are eager to assist when asked.

At times it can be confusing with express trains not stopping when you expect them to or having to get off one train and catch another on the other line for your destination. Most times it's straightforward, newer trains have an electronic board, better audio,...More

While my wife and I were in New York, staying on 51st and 8th, we decided to see the 9/11 memorial. Access to the subway was just a couple blocks from our hotel. We picked up tickets at the station and traveled to the 9/11...More

Ok you need to kind of know a bit about the various services and weekend variations - but with a metro card you can travel cheaply and safely to all parts of the city and beyond. Highly recommend.

I'd give it a 5 if it were free, which it should be. Staten Island Ferry is free. The Metrocard kiosks often have issues, like not reading credit cards, out of service. I can only speak for the Broadway line in Manhattan, but it was...More

As dirty as it is, I love my city's subway. Living deep in the suburbs on Long Island, I rarely ride it anymore. It is fast and efficient. The newer trains have great technology. FYI - the voice on the train that says "please stand...More

I guess, if your teens are higher then 44 inches, there must be a metrocard for each of you. Magnetic ticket. You can choose to put some to e rather then value on metrocard. 5 day pass is a good choice
