This was my first time on a carousel and it was so much fun. It was like stepping back in time. A must if you are visiting Central Park.

All 6 of us went onto the carousel. It's well over 100 years old but for me that just adds to the charm. It was a lovely ride and the kids enjoyed it so that's all that matters.

My nine-year-old loved this and did it twice. The ride was a good length of time and is easy to find. The horses looked really well maintained and beautifully painted. Be aware that it closes in bad weather, including rain.

How sad when you make a once in a lifetime trip and the attraction you wanted to see is closed, I am not sure why but I wanted to give people a heads up to check attractions before you go!

Great Management?! We walked thru the park for one reason - to ride the Carousel. It was the first beautiful weekend of the year! 70+ degrees. Park was packed with people. We were greeted by a shuttered carousel and white paper signs that announced that...More

My wife is a big fan of carousels, which she has always referred to as the “flying horses.” On a lovely May afternoon, we took a long stroll to Central Park, and to the Michael Friedsam Memorial Carousel (often referred to as just “the Central...More

Coming from England I had high hopes - BUT PLEASE FIX THE MUSIC... I appreciate it's old but the occasional thud and squeak was very annoying

The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because music was broken down on our visit in Oct. We were the only people on it in between a couple school groups and the artwork on this carousel is classic and well worth the ride,...More

When visiting Central Park with our three sons, our friend who was our guide, took us to the Central Park Carousel. We never really knew about it, but he informed us it was a historic, popular attraction, which opened in 1871. Our kids, who enjoy...More

If you’re in Central Park, how can you not ride an old school carousel? The rides at $3.25 each and a bit short in my opinion. The carousel is mostly enclosed, so it can get warm on a hot day. The staff finally turned the...More

According to NYCTourist, the carousel is open daily from April until October from 10am to 6pm, weather permitting. If it is raining, it likely won't be open, so get info from the telephone number below before making the trip... More
