We went over on the Roosevelt tram. The Information booth had a nice little shop and a very helpful lady who told us about the Cornell University campus cafeteria, that is open to all. We walked down to the end of the island, overlooking the...More

For the cost of a subway ride take the Roosevelt Island tram to the island and experience a totally different vibe. During the tram ride enjoy great views of the iconic "feelin' groovy" 59th Street Bridge. Once on the island, walk South and take in...More

Spend a perfect fun day outside the hustle of the city. There are so many things to do on the island. Start by taking the tram over for an aerial view instead of the subway. Walk/run/bike along the East River, or around the entire island....More

Cable car to the island was great, superb views. The island is so calming after the busyness of the city.

Almost forget I'm in NYC when I come to this island. The pace suddenly becomes slow here. The best season and also the most beautiful sea is the blossom season. The trees along the river are all cherry trees with a different breed. Some are...More

Nice little island. It’s quiet, and peaceful insland, linked to Manhattan via a tram or the F train. There’s not really any traffic here either. I always loved the makeup of the island and the many parts of it. I encourage anyone to visit that...More

Serene little step away from the hubbub of the city. Accessible from Manhattan by tram or subway, as well as bridge and ferry from Queens. Four Freedoms Park on one tip of the island feels like little oasis from the frenetic motion of NYC.

No restaurants but there is a supermarket on the island, in case you don't want to bring picnic-style food with you. There is a cafe where you can buy coffee as well.
