It´s a great place to take a walk, enjoy the view and keep relaxing. It´s also possible to have other activities by your own choice.

This is clearly a community beach, during both visits there were activities going on from what appeared to be a volleyball tournament to a neighborhood picnic. The beach is clean and well kept, with all manner of patrons. The lifeguard headquarters is near by and...More

I disagree with the comments most people are saying. Ocean Beach is more than safe, day or night. Yes there’s homeless people there but they don’t bother anyone. It’s an old, quaint, cool beach town that I would move to in a heartbeat. The beach,...More

My friend and I stayed on Ocean Beach despite the TripAdvisor reviews. We do not have kids, and don't really want kids to be all around us at the beach. We were not at all disappointed with Ocean Beach. It is thoroughly cleaned every morning...More

Homeless and hippies, but great beach, bars, surf shops...definitely not commercialized or modern like Mission Beach...huge pier to fish or watch the surfers, tidepools are pretty sketchy

Walked along the pier after a fab meal at Hodads.. my teenage girls got a few heckles which wasnt particularly nice although they weren't bothered by it. Would probably fail a drugs test if you hung round breathing the air for too long 😂😂

I almost didn't go to OB, but hotel staff recommended it for my Sunday beach day. This is where the locals hang. There are some beach bums, but it is still very safe, they don't bother you, are just living life in paradise. Fun to...More

We came to visit to eat at Hodads and caught the sunset on the pier. The beach itself looked a lil used up and trashy. Lots of grimy hippies about, people who live in their car. We saw some etching satanic symbols on the ledge....More

OB is the place to go for beach volleyball action. Bring your dog too. It's a fun beach for everyone.

Do you have a rental car? If so, drive down the peninsula to visit the beaches to the south of ocean beach. There are some great rocky areas you can join out into the ocean. This is against the law. I would only advise... More

If you drive down the peninsula that Ocean Beach is the basis. You can drive South towards the end of the peninsula. The area is FANTASTIC with the strong Pacific Ocean waves hitting the coastal rocks. This area inspires... More

I think Ocean Beach is great! There are some homeless in the area, which is common for beach areas. I don't think you should have any issues.
