While staying in Moab Utah don't miss to take a drive on byway 128. The first 20 km are beside the Colorado River and you have just breathtaking views of the sandstone cliffes around you. You can make lovely photos on this byway.

Great scenic drive to Moab along the Colorado River. Not to be missed if you are in the area. Horse riding ranches along the way, as well as small camping sites and beautiful walks and hikes.

Around every turn you want to stop and take a picture. Grand Canyon is great but here you can get out and touch the river, the canyon and the rocks. Beautiful day trip.

This was one of the most amazing drives we have ever taken. The red rock cliffs overlooking the Colorado River was beyond spectacular.

We drove by the riverway and spotted beautiful birds. The drive itself was so beautiful that we did not want to turn back! The only unpleasant part is the scorching summer heat!

I had not been to Maob before. We entered from above, and the splendor of the valley was marvelous, as we descended the mountain and the landscape changed.

We explored Canyonlands on a NAVTEC tour. Best way to see the back roads that few sensible tourists will ever see.

I do not think you should let the kids play in the water. The river appears to me to be too fast and I did not see any calm areas.

The colorado riverway rund east from Moab or you can come from the east off of Interstate 70. You could do the drive as a day trip in about 3 hours from Moab to I-70 and then back to Moab. It is worth the time.
