There are a lot of street murals in SF and you should get a guide to all, or take a guided walking tour. It's ever-changing instant art, part of the local scene.

The Mission District is filled with street art and there are two primary alleys (dirty alleys) that are popular to drive down. The Clarion Alley and Balmey Alley tell tales of the gentrification of the area, politics, humor and simple entertainment pieces. There is something...More

We visited this as used to enjoy visiting something similar in Miami when we lived there. This is not as big as that but perhaps more authentic and the paintings contained more meaning, particularly in today’s political climate which I liked our children to see....More

Fascinating murals, love the street art which brings another dimension to San Francisco. Worth a detour from the normal tourist trains to wander around these streets.

About a mile or so away from Clarion Alley is Balmy Alley. I actually liked the art here better. Almost everything is painted in this alley....whether it be the sides of a house, a fence, a garage door...doesn't matter, if it has a surface it...More

For a taste of something different, make a tour of all the great murals in the Mission. Just superb street art that has been around for decades. Historic.

We decided we had seen all the usual tourist spots in SF. So we set out to do some quasi tourist things. One of them was the Balmy Alley Murals. Fantastic and expressive art. It is located in the Mission District which is a little...More

Mission District
From burritos to bicyclists, the Mission is the
foundation for all things hip in the city. Cultural
attractions, an independent arts community, sumptuous
street murals and a high density of bars and cafes
make this neighbourhood a magnet for young people.
While terrific inexpensive food is abundant, its
top-of-the-line restaurants now compete with the
city’s best for fashionable diners. Indulge as the
