The Maritime Museum, anchored with the Hyde Street Pier, makes for a wonderful visit to the city. A floating piece of history that you can soak in. A visit to San Francisco is incomplete without visiting the ships at the pier!

The Hyde Street pier seems to be the center of the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park. There are historical ships, workshop demonstration, and a few things to show about maritime life for everyone. In addtion, visitors can see a good view of the Golden...More

An under-promoted gem of the Hyde St Pier, the 100-plus year-old scow schooner Alma sails regularly around the Bay. Don’t miss it! You’ll be sailing on a vintage restored vessel that I feel offers the smoothest bay sailing tour around (its a long, wide, flat...More

We had a lovely morning going through the boats and the Eureka also has antique cars on board too from its time as a car carrier. Admission price was fairly reasonable as the boats need money for further restoration. A seal came up to the...More

Had a little time and visited the Hyde Street Pier, where ferries took cars across the bay before the Golden Gate Bridge was built. Views of said bridge and several old time ships, along with a great view of Alcatraz. It's a one- place- view-...More

Fascinating to go on these tall ships and to experience how precarious round the world voyages were in the past centuries. Very educational displays. Nice views of the bay. Saw sea lions at play. The SFO bay ferry in service until the Golden Gate Bridge...More

Here are the vessels that worked the Bay and the nearby ocean. Go see 'em, get on 'em! Visit the museum collections as well. The National Park Service deserves our thanks!

We enjoyed the tour given by a park ranger very much. We learned a lot about San Francisco's history, from it's start as a minor port to today. Take the time to absorb the whole museum / ships.

Great that you're travelling with your dog. We had to leave our dog at home (I'm living in Europe), so we were without dog. But the area in front of the Pier is kind of a small park, so should be perfect for a dog, lots of... More
