INCREDIBLE !!!!! don't miss this while you are here. Its located right near downtown, but you will never know it as you won't hear the hustle and bustle while you are tucked into a very well maintained space. Plenty of shade everywhere is an extra...More

It would be sad to visit Portland without including Washington Park. So many good surprises, from wide open spaces and views to the Japanese Garden to the zoo.

The best rose garden I have ever visited! Wonderful hiking trails and beautiful scenery. It can get busy even on weekdays so for visiting, the earlier the better.

Great place to spend a day in Portland. Easy to find with the tram and free bus service. It contains miles of trails and roads, the Japanese Garden, the Rose Test Garden, museum, and a zoo. Do not miss it if you can.

Find your nature needs fulfilled here. There's a zoo, a forestry discovery sone, a miss-placed holocaust memorial (it happened in Europe...), an arboretum, hiking, really a whole weekend's worth of fun.

Rose & Japanese gardens with a great view of the city. Parking can be tight, so go early and don't forget to pay or you will get a ticket.

I had heard that Portland has an excellent transit system, and I was not disappointed. I took the MAX light rail line from SW 1st Avenue to the Goose Hollow neighborhood, where I saw signs for Washington Park. I hiked up hilly streets in a...More

The Rose Garden was the highlight of this trip. the park was fun but finding parking was so hard that we spent more time looking than we should have.

A few different experiences within the park, free shuttle available to get you around. Spend a rainy afternoon at the Japanese Gardens and it was spectacular, quiet with the perfect lighting for pictures.

On our City of Portland tour we drove through Washington Park. We had already toured the rose garden and our guide wanted us to see the rest of the area. There are a number of various trees and shrubs in the park...wish I knew what...More

Give yourself a whole hour or more for the Japanese Garden. Walk slowly. Take it all in. It's supposed to be serene, and being on a timeline messes with that. The park itself is huge, so maybe set at least a half day... More

Ditto what others have said. There was a “hot dog” cart when we were there too. And take the free bus around the park to minimize the walking necessary. Have fun and check out the Roses!!!

Washington Park allows dogs but the usual rules apply: Dogs must be on a leash and clean up after them. Apart from that its a perfect place for the whole family.
