Basically, it is part ot the tour. Lots of mystery- there are theories like a signal for the fisherman that the harbor is nearby. You only need a 24-70mm zoom lens for this shot. Easy photo opp.

Its a very unusual sight and amazing to see from a boat, hard to get your head around the size of it and the amount of time it has been there.

My 4th visit to the Chandelier - El Candelabro it has change through the years. After the earthquake in 2007 seems to me the lines got washy and less defined. From far it looked bad intentioned people left footsteps next to it. I hope this...More

A little bit for a tour in a boat around the islands. The great attraction in this visit was the Chandelier. This is one of the many curiosities of Peru. I took the ticket knowing that we will pass by and that we will see...More

Have you ever wondered how shapes and figures arrive (or stay) at their places so intact and shaped in a mystical way? This chandelier (candelabra) is sure one of them. The etching looks like a perfect chandelier, as if someone went there to etch and...More

Fascinating “Candelabro” - having no chance to review what to expect on our way to the Ballestas Islands... seeing the Candelabro and listening to the various theories as to its age and history provided a great start to our morning expedition...

Passed this on a trip to the Ballestas Islands and whilst it was impressive (with a certain mystery over its origin), it was not anything like the Nazca lines that I'd flown over the previous day!

Why and by whom? This ancient geoglyph is estimated to be approximately 800 feet tall and can be seen from as far as 12 miles out at sea. It was created by cutting two feet deep into the hardened soil and has been dated to...More

Part of our Islas Ballestas boat tour. Our guide gave 5-6 plausible theories on who made this and when. Something to think about along with how difficult it was to do. After seeing it in books it was great to pull up close by in...More

The tour guide gave us a very confusing explanation of this. Didn't make much sense in English or Spanish. Was part of the Isla your, otherwise, it wouldn't have been a stand put point of our trip in Peru.
