When it was first built, I am sure it was a modern concept with a residential building being self sufficient with everything people would need. Take it for what it is, or I should say what it was, but Chicago's building architecture has far progressed...More

Chicago is full of magnificent buildings but these towers are an original gem you can watch from the mob tour by bus or the architecture cruise by boat. The parking garage are open air at the lower levels and the apartments at the upper levels.

When this residential complex ( 2 60 story high rises) was built back in the 60s, it’s circular design was unique in the day. It’s look still stands out over 50 years later in this architecturally significant city. The complex can be seen well from...More

Just because they are different doesn't make them special. They may be called the "corn cobs" but call me old fashioned but I still love the older architectural icons that have dotted the river for years. Love this part of Chicago but these buildings don't...More

Also known as the “corn cobs” these two buildings are part of the impressive Chicago inner city architecture. Mostly residential use.

Honestly, until I recently began researching some background information on the Marina City towers, I wasn't aware that they were referred to as the "Corn Cobs." The two 60-story residential towers were built in 1964, before I returned to Chicago, and my first experience with...More

Worth seeing definitely unique. Once seen, ready to move on. Not much more to add. Best seen when in an architectural tour of many buildings in Chicago.

Those two tall towers, known as Marina City are residential buildings, with no public access. Best view of the towers gives boat tours on the Chicago river. Those buildings have car parking areas on lower floors. House of The Blues is located behind them.

Chicago has been renown since the 1890's world-wide as city of stunning architecture, and the Corn Cobs (aka Marina City) just fit in. We believe they are private residences, and there's no public access, so you'll likely only see the buildings from the outside. But...More

There are so many parking garages in the area. We parked around Ohio and Wabash and paid $150 for three days, which was a better rate than what the hotel would have been.
