Have been to wineries all over the world and often in Nappa. SYV is the place to go to get away from the commercialized industry that winemakinghas become. Laid back, friendly, intimate. Just beware...the towns around here close early so get your damage done early...More

Los Olivios is a small town to visit in "the valley"... with friendly wineries. Often if you buy a bottle of wine, they waive the tasting fee.

The Santa Ynez valley is a very beautiful place - especially in the spring/early summer when the hills are all green.

A drive through Santa Ynez is a great way to spend a little time! Lovely countryside, beautiful trees and flowers! Unexpected “finds” and by that I mean we were riding around wine tasting when we came across Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar finds, like a...More

We don't drink so we don't do the wine tasting thing. Instead, we just start driving and see where we end up. We found a buffalo, ostriches, a farm where you can pick your own vegetables, a beautiful park in the middle of nowhere, wooden...More

Was very interesting. You can buy food to feed the ostriches and other birds. The big ones (Ostriches) are very aggressive when it comes to feeding them, some more than others. The Emu's are cute, and the little ones, I think they are called Kiwi's...More

I love going wine-tasting in Santa Ynez, and have the wine glass collection to prove it. The countryside is beautiful, the wineries are fun and friendly, and in my experience its not crowded. Oh, and the wines are great.

We love the Santa Ynez Valley and have been coming for many years. I like it as it is a lot less pretentious than Napa. We go up a few times a year and love the vibe, wines, etc.
