We loved everything about this magnificent Center. It is spacious, airy, comfortable and has the most interesting displays. We loved the Manet exhibit and the Photography Area. I wish we had a bit more time to spend exploring.
This was a fairly last minute decision to go, so I didn't do enough research beforehand (like reading the TripAdvisor reviews) and went with "highlights" and the Getty website.
The most misleading thing to me was the suggested time allotment of 2-3 hours. This is...More
Visit starts with good secure parking @$20. Thereafter a tramway takes you to the top and the entrance plaza.
Join an initial short tour to get an informative view of the layout and the architecture of this campus.

We drove up from San Diego to see the Bauhaus Exhibit in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus movement. The exhibit was well composed with a good overview of the impact on foundational methods of art education over the past hundred years.
The Getty combines the most fantastic museum experience with their collection of fantastic art. The days are gorgeous and the entire experience is great. A good way to introduce figity teens to an art museum experience.
Was unsure if visiting the Getty would be good or just boring. IT was neither, it was Great. The grounds are spectacular and the exhibits are even better. All of the staff was helpful and informative. I would strongly recommend to anyone who has a...More

This is truly a not miss site when visiting Los Angeles. The trees on the property were planted 10 years before the Getty Center was built, resulting in magnificent landscaping. Don't miss going to the Getty Center!

There are several food options within the Getty, ranging from snacks from a coffee cart to a formal restaurant. If you want to leave and eat elsewhere, restaurants are a drive away. Traffic at lunchtime should be lighter than during the afternoon build up (but beware of the early rush on Fridays). I often pack a picnic lunch and the Getty grounds are a very pleasant place to sit and enjoy it. Hope this helps!
