Our Piratour Penguin Rookery + Beagle Channel excursion included a photo stop here at the Bird Island. Hundreds of cormorants! The boat will get you close enough for a good view. A must for the bird watcher; for us, the penguins were the highlight.

Rocky island where you will not disembark and many boats approach. It is fascinating to see the cormorants nesting and flying. It should be combined with a boat tour of the sea lions and penguins. Beautiful scenery

Known as Bird Island this is on the Beagle Channel sightseeing cruise and is a rock islet in the Channel close to Ushuaia which is the nesting and gathering place of a large colony of cormorants. A must for the bird watcher/spotter.

This was our first experience seeing penguins in their native habitat. Our cruise ship dropped anchor, and zodiacs took us to the island where we could walk around seeing, hearing and smelling thousands of birds. Very engaging.

I did the Beagle Channel full tour and even the boat company (Rumbo Sur) doesn´t care much about it and don´t stop at the island.. just pass through it. Mostly probably because tourists are most interested to see the sea lions and penguins. It sounds...More

This cruise takes you past so many vistas and exciting spots to see. The lighthouse, the penguins and the bays of Ushuaia all are spectacular in their own individual ways. An absolute must is to take your own binoculars - don't share - it's worth...More

Many companies offer tours where the boat comes to shore and you can see penquins. However, you must stay on the boat. If you want to walk around the island - check out Pira tours......
