Had an absolutely fanastic day at Estancia El Ombu de Areco. A friend had recommended this to me after seeing it on " A cook abroad - John Torode Argentina" on BBC2. As he says in the show it is the best steak you will...More
We loved our three days here...wish we could have stayed a month! Wonderful food, service, atmosphere. Met so many nice people. And the horses! They are really wonderful! I'm an experienced rider and they matched me with an excellent mount. We rode twice a day,...More
This ranch was a day trip out from Buenos Aires to see the country side and get a feel for Gaucho life! Would recommend a 4x4 as last part of journey was a little uneven and if wet would of been more of a challenge....More
I had the pleasure of an overnight stay at El Ombu. Luckily, I had good weather which is not at all guaranteed in June. It was chilly at night, but there are wood burning fireplaces all over and wood burning stoves in the guest rooms....More
An old Estancia with Italian heritage and architecture. The welcome and the staff are also brilliant at "old fashioned great service".. they quickly remember your name and preferences and anticipate your needs well.
The Gaucho element was amazing, such harmony with the horses and as...More
We had carried out lots of research to make sure our planned estancia trip was the correct one. This is a first class place. Everything was amazing and well done. The welcome drinks and empanadas; the horse riding in open country for around an hour;...More
The estancia is a place from heaven. The experience is not to be matched to anything. The place, the food, the nature, the colors, the gauchos, the entertainment, the peace, the horses and the horsebackriding were out of this world. This is one thing i...More

We had rented an apartment and they picked us up at our door. We were in automobile about2 hours. The driver explained the countryside. We then transferred to a ranch guide. We saw the ranch by horseback ( you had the option of a carriage if you didn't want to ride). We literally were there from morning until dark. We saw every aspect, you could even milk a cow. Let us have freedom to wander on our own. Had tea in afternoon. Lunch was specular. Everything raised on farm. You could stay overnight if desired. An extra ordinary experience. However, it was an exhausting day if you took advantage of all that was offered. A day I'll always remember. The Gringo's were the best. Especially the one with the "Horse demonstration.."
A very memorable experience..also very personable very small groups.
