I give the park itself 4/5 stars simply because the way that the park has been built up is a little hokey and not as natural as I think it could be. With that being said, my husband and I did a night tour of...More

Our hotel prebooked the English guide for us. Our guide Patrick was outstanding, passionate about the environment and pointed out so many little creatures we would NEVER have seen otherwise.
Very impressed with the presentation of the park as a whole. Everything is maintained in...More
I was quite disappointed with the hanging bridges.
Pros: yes the bridges were suspended, there were views of the volcano and jungle canopy
Cons: rare to see wild animals, costs $26/person or with a guide for $40/person, 30-40 minute drive from La Fortuna.
Definitely pay more for a guided hike so you can see wildlife and birds. People without a guide were walking right by things that you can only see with binoculars or a scope and obviously you need to know where to look first. The guide...More
We booked a tour with a local company and had a guide walk with us. I highly recommend having a guide because they will know where to look for certain animals and reptiles. The tour itself is not strenuous and is a very easy walk....More
Amazing to see such dense rainforests and the very smartly designed hanging bridges to bring the best out of this place! Apart from excellent flora and fauna, there are lovely birds and also some small animals. Overall a fantastic experience!
The scenery is absolutely beautiful, and we got to watch tons of ants carry their leaves around with them. And we even stumbled upon some coatimundis being really loud eating and knocking things out of the trees.
We went on our own. Aside from the drive we were able to get on a last minute tour when we arrived. I'd suggest you make a reservation with the park and use one of their official tourguides.
