A must if you travel to Arenal or La Fortuna! Make sure you bring your bathing suit as you can swim at the bottom of the falls. If you want to see the falls from the bottom, you will have to descent (and climb back)...More

Worth the 500 steps each way! I highly recommend going to see this while in La Fortuna! There were many people swimming and wading in the river, but indeed the water was a bit chilly.

The stairway to the falls has improved greatly since my visit in 2011. Easy walk down and ok stroll back up if you take your time. It’s worth it to see and hear the falls. Few howler monkeys were in the trees during our visit.

Absolutely beautiful natural waterfall, very cheap entrance fee which includes a guard by the waterfall to ensure everyone’s safety! Lots of steps on the way back up to the top to get everyone’s hearts racing.

Great day riding about 1 hour each way to Falls and back. Hike y base of the falls is steep with many steps. Should be in moderately decent shape, no knee replacement or cardiac issues. It rained the entire day and heavily on the hike....More

Visited the waterfall this morning with the kids. We enjoyed ourselves, the waterfall is beautiful, but be warned of the cold water. So why am I only eating this a 3?. Maybe I am spoiled but we have visited waterfalls throughout the Carribean and Hawaii....More

Just take a hike but be prepared for the climb up. There is a great watering whole at the base of the falls. But be careful with youngers or olders. It’s slick and rocky. If you go left at the bottom of the trail rather...More

Beautiful waterfall located within an easily accomplished hike. The waterfall is down a set of about 500 stairs to get to the bottom, and there is opportunity for swimming. There are also lookout points located throughout if you didn’t want to go all the way...More

Lots of stairs but totally worth the effort. We had a lovely time here, meeting with other tourists and locals alike. There were calmer areas slightly away from the falls for calmer waters to relax in.

You don't really need a guided tour. From La Fortuna, we flagged a taxi, paid 5 dollars taxi to the entrance and paid the $30 entrance fee to enter the park. Be prepared for a fairly strenuous hike up. There are no toilet or... More
