Whilst Huacachina is a pretty desert oasis, I found it very abrasive. It is inundated with tourists on dune buggies ripping through the desert loudly and on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights it’s party central with a street party that goes til 06.00 am. As...More

This is an activity that you shouldn't miss if you come to Peru. It is different and for all the family. The dune buggy and sand boarding was so cool. It is also amazing to see an natural desert and oasis in South America.

what internet fotos dont show is that the whole place smells like manure. Its nice only when you watch it from surrounding dunes far away. Sand boarding is complete nonsense, it doesn't work..A lot of people taking fotos, makes you wonder why they dont just...More

Impressive place worth going to if you are staying in the area. All taxis and tuctuc can bring you there if you are in Ica. There, you'll have the opportunity to take a tour with a buggy, for 2 hours in the afternoon (departure at...More

SOOO Much fun. The landscape is amazing if you love adventure. True desert. My teens sand boarded down huge dunes that made my heart stop. Basically it is like a roller coaster ride with some dust. The sunset was unforgettable. I would not miss this...More

But still a 3/5 as the dunes surrounding the place are worth the climb for the views. The sand buggy & board experience is nice be it also not great. The oasis likely once was superb but now a mass tourism dump, terrible restaurants, ugly...More

Pleased I came here, but wouldn't say it was a must see. Mass tourism with the poor service that comes with it. Be careful with the dune buggy rides, while fun, they are driven by kamikaze drivers with no regard for your safety. It is...More

Oasis looks nice on the photos otherwise I would not spend more than 1h. Dunes are impressive but the boogie disappointing. 45min in the car which makes a lot of nice is enough. I would not come second time.

Unique place and would return. Loved the atmosphere and restaurants. Sand buggies were a blast..but be careful up there . Make sure seatbelt is tight and do not walk around on dunes or sandboard away from group. Lots of buggies!

Huacachina was the first stop on our Peruvian road trip and we were disappointed to say the least. Luckily we were only staying for one day and two nights as we managed to do everything in 24 hours. The sandboarding was fun but the highlight...More

You should wear pants!!!! the sand burns you! but depends on what time you want to come to Ica. The summer is from December to February! Buy sunscreen, sunglasses and enjoy your trip!

I stayed in the Hosteleria Suiza in Huacachina in March, they take bookings over the internet. The hotel is comfortable, has a pool, and the location is very nice. Ica is a bit nasty, no reason to stay there.
