This AMAZING place was settled 5000 years ago! If that doesn't impress you consider that they developed techniques for permanent fires and earthquake-proof buildings, to name two.

If you're coming or going from/to the North or Huaraz, you can consider a stopover in Barranca to visit Caral. There are collectivos Huaraz Barranca. The Hostal Independencia was decent and, just across the street, collectivos do Barranca Caral for 6 soles but for the...More

Although a bit of a mission to get to (bus from Lima-Supe, collectivo from Supe- La Puenta, walk from La Puenta to the entrance) this was a truly unforgetable day! The adventure there made it even more special :)

I didn't even have Peru on my bucket list, but once I visited, I couldn't get enough! Great people, great food, great weather! And the historic sites are magnificent!

Caral is not the easiest site to visit but it is very worthy of a day trip from Lima. We hired a private guide and driver from a tour operator (Haku Tours).

I have mixed reviews on this. I took a tour that was supposed to be English and Spanish. Unfortunately no English was spoken. As a result, I was lucky enough to read the English verbiage on the boards but didn’t not get all the information...More

We took a tour with a government sponsored tour. This costs 150 soles (about $45) and includes transport from Lima to Caral, lunch at Caral, tour guides, and a stop in Vichama (another archeological site of a similar age to Caral). A lot of private...More

I used Lima Tours for all my visits. They were at the airports with a sign with my name. They were at the hotels for the trans-ort and sometimes early. Lots of information and friendly. I'd use them again.
