Some sites were closed due to 2018 eruptions but interesting to see the flows from various eruptions over time. Driving to the end of the road really gave us the perspective of the magnitude of the power of nature.

I cannot use too many adjectives to describe what we saw as we traveled this road. Majestic, sobering, unimaginable, other worldly, sweeping views, a feat of engineering, vast... none of these overstates the amazing landscapes you will see on this drive. From lava flows frozen...More

This was a great trip, and the drive was lovely. We stopped off to visit the petroglyphs and the craters, the views of the sea are amazing.

There is so much to do and see along this road, plan a day to visit. I always feel bad for the people I see rushing around trying to do this in an hour. Except for the ones who are rude and impatient and trying...More

The chain of craters road is not to be missed - it is as the name says, a road along the chain of craters formed by the Kilauea volcano over the years. Amazing views of an active geology.
