Beautiful Waipio Valley near Honokaa, Hi (big island). 4wd van driven by very experienced drivers down and up a very steep basically one lane paved rough road. Very luxuriant valley floor of tropical flora and taro patches. Magnificent waterfalls in the wet season. A fun...More

Waipi'o Valley is one of the "absolutely must do" things to do on the Big Island. Even if you just go to the lookout, it's beautiful and amazing. If you have a 4WD and are feeling adventurous, you definitely need to go down one of...More

Great views, a few free Parking spots and short steep walk down to the look out. Incredible views. You can only down to the valley if you are invited or pay a guide.

From the Waipi'o valley lookout you can see spectacular views of the valley, the Taro plantations, the black sand beach and the beautiful Pacific Ocean. The road which takes you part of the way down to the valley is extremely steep and is only accessible...More

In case the other reviews didn’t convince you yet: my gosh... it’s steep! After the fun lookout it’s about 20 minutes very steep down. Keep an eye out for passing traffic but everyone on the slope is very careful in general. Had a great time...More

An absolutely breathtaking view! Well worth the drive! The overlook affords the views of a sweeping lush green valley to the ocean, with steep cliffs on the opposite side of the valley.

The valley and beach are stunning. Read more about the destination elsewhere. How to get there, though. The road is open to 4wd cars/trucks only. That does not mean All Wheel Drive - you sneaky Subaru owners and there is a $500 fine for trying...More

You can hike down or find a ride to the beach at the bottom. Wish we had time for going there. Sunset here would be very pretty. There’s also a small town just before that makes for a good stop

Unique natural environment. Be one of the few to see this incredible area. Feed the wild horses - see waterfalls - relax in the cool river water - experience the powdery black sand beach.

Distance to Waipio Valley is difficult to calculate without an accurate odometer reading, which I do not have. My review is just an estimate based on my own experience as a hiker. I took the trip in the back of a... More

According to some quick research I did, apparently there are, but I did not go down to the valley. I just viewed it from the viewpoint at the end of the paved road.
