So Wednesday night, Oct 9th had my pole dancing class at milan pole right around the corner as I drove by slowly through this square as there is often traffic, I heard the sweet sounds of an opera singer. Hadn’t heard that around there

The attraction of Place d'Armes, for me, was to see the tall memorial statue to honor Maisonneuve, the founder of Montreal, placed in the middle of the square. I think its great when cities erect such monuments for important people in their past, and Montreal...More
Circa 1721, local militia would have gathered here, heeding the call to defend their "New Home" (Maisonneuve). The purpose for the square was to stage military events and this is the second oldest public site/gathering spot in Montreal and dates back to 1693.
