Only a small portion of the fort remains, but the view and history surrounding it are worth visiting. Stop by the vendors close by for a Bahama Mama.

Very small fort off of the beaten path. It is about a 10-15 minute and 30 dollar cab ride round trip from the port including the cab waiting for us for 15 min to tour the fort. I went to the fort because of it's...More

A plague at Fort Charlotte listed 4 forts. Having visited 2 prior, this seemed like the smallest of the three. Although I did not enter the fort, I found enough excitement watching the people exercising, walking along the beach and just enjoying the general area.

Well worth the trip to ensure you have ticked off a visit all the available forts on New Providence. We walked the 3 miles from central Nassau then got a bus back the long way round (as the road there is one-way) but were able...More

This fort is the oldest in Nassau and well maintained. Like the other Forts, it was built to defend the Nassau harbour. It is in a prime location on Montagu beach with views to die for, clear blue water and celebrity houses across the other...More

I tried something different and took the Funky Jeep Tour this year. Fort Montagu was just one of the many places we visited but I thought this was a nice place and I learned a lot of history. Nassau/Paradise Island is NOT just about water....More

Fort Montagu is for those that appreciate the unique history of the Caribbean region. What it lacks in grandeur, it makes up for in significance. Be sure to stroll down the waterfront area for local fish, food, and drink tents that serve up local cuisine...More

Take a jitney for $1 cash down Bay Street. It's a 5-minute ride. I used the jitney to get to my hotel a few blocks farther down the street. The trip back may be a little longer, because of how Bay Street is one-way in... More
