This is a tranquil spot which we were told used to be a volcano. We watched the fish for a while before moving on to see the Mona monkeys. These were extremely tame and came down from the trees for pieces of fruit and were...More

Visited Oct 3 as part of a island tour. Not much to see except some feral cats and a lake. Read the placard with the description and we where to move on.

While this place is important for island ecology and as nature sanctuary, it is not really a great thrill. A small lake with lots of greenery around it. Cooler than at sea level and refreshing. Peaceful and quiet. Green. But not the highlight of your...More

Hiked the Shoreline Trail around Grand Etang Lake today with my husband. It was beautiful and definitely a trail that most people could do. Took us about two hours to complete as the trail was half mud and puddles as it is the rainy season...More

Many come here for a place to meditate. However, the Grand Etang Lake is special. There are fish in the lake. The reeds are for free. There are two places for shade.

Coolee temperature at tge lake. Lots of different plants in the surrounding area as well as birds and fish. A good place if you like long hikes, short walks, or just a little while to sit and relax.
