I was not expecting to like this little stop so much. I'm sure that it had to do a lot with the guide that made it for us as he knew a lot of the history of both Ambar and Larimar, and explained it in...More

We loved this little museum. Informative tour guide, lots to see. Also, I didn't know that this museum was part of the movie Jurassic Park!

They offer a short tour with an explanation of how amber is formed, and the different types there are. Afterwards, you get to see and buy jewelry made with the amber.

My son loves geology, so he was excited to go see the Amber Museum. The suprise was that the rest of us enjoyed it too. It's a neat little stop on any tour of Puerta Plata.

On the same day of the excursion you can also go to the amber museum (for us a premiere). There is a guided tour that takes about 10 minutes where you get all the necessary information to understand how the amber is formed. The most...More

Great displays. Nominal admission fee. Informative guides. If you want to know everything about amber this the place to go. Lots of items for sale and all are negotiable.

I do not remember seeing blue amber but the golden amber seemed to be just as clear as the pieces with items in it. I would not say either one particularly shines.
