Well worth the hot (depending on time of day) and steep and sometimes slippery walk up to see the old fort but even more so, for the views. Simply stunning.

Get away from it all with a steep but steady climb to the top. Walking shoes are a must. The view from the top is amazing.

I visited Fort Barrington mainly as it overlooked our hotel beach (The Royalton on Deep Bay). I decided to go early in the morning, and was glad I did, as even before the sun was fully up, it was hot work climbing. I made the...More

This is off the beaten path and well worth searching out. The climb is reasonable assuming you have NO mobility problems. Absolutely gorgeous views, breathtaking!!

We stayed close by and were able to walk to this and hike in the morning or evening. We saw goats, dogs, donkeys, lots of locals and sometimes no one at all. Great vantage point, and in fairly good condition.

Walked from Galley Bay Resort, setting out early to avoid heat. Hadn't taken walking shoes/boots and found ascent too difficult in sturdy webbing sandals. Sadly because of the erosion and steep, slippery path, we aborted the climb just over half way up. Apart from the...More

This is a neat little fort to visit. Beware of the steep hill and note that there is a “back way” up that is likely a lot easier. I would not attempt the steep hill in unstable shoes. We saw many people descend on their...More

Walk from Galley Bay took about an hour via Five Islands. Route we planned to take was blocked by the hotel building work taking place in Deep Bay, which also was a bit of a scar on the landscape. Work due to be finished in...More
