We were really disappointed after travelling 1 hour to visit the fort to find that it was closed. We checked on the internet prior to going (because we were unsure if it would close earlier given that it was Friday). The board said it was...More

My wife and I visited Nakhal Fort on a cruise ship excursion from Muscat. Nakhal is around 75 minutes drive from Muscat so easy to reach if you have transport. It's an old fort that has been restored several times in its history and it...More

We ambled around this fort for about an hour. It has a number of rooms that you can visit and sit in, much like what you might have found back in the day. There are some vantage points on the ramparts from which to see...More

Nice fort. Some rooms have been set up like they probably were back in the days. All in all many forts look alike so you might not need to see this one if you see the forts near Nizwa. The view is as per pictures....More

There isn’t a lot of information about the fort but the place is well maintained. We walked around for just over an hour with my grandmother and a 7 year old. Cool to visit and a nice view of the area

The Nakhal Fort is a very old fort and is now a museum for some Omanese history. The artifacts are properly positioned and in good condition. The audio guide, provided to each visitor provides a graphic picture of the museum.

I think she may find it tricky, you can see a certain amount at ground level, but like most forts in Oman is not very accessible if you have mobility challenges, but you can still get a feel for it.
