the story of the statue is very interesting lost then found again. The king was born in this town and did great things for the Hawaiian islands and it's people. it's located at the town hall across from the King's view cafe.

A huge, colorful statue by the side of the road. Iteresting for a quick stop to marvel at the like-ness to some Roman gladiator. Cast in Italy, lost at sea, then recovered and restored to the king's birthplace. Wow !

It's actually a nice and interesting drive up here from Kailua, and seeing the statue and learning its history was interesting. It's also located in front of the local senior center and possibly VFW post, there is lots of interesting information posted on boards up...More
Other reviewers have said it before....IF and ONLY IF, you are in the area anyways, stop for a quick photo and a bit of history but honestly, it is not worth driving all that way just to see it.
