I spent a couple hours walking around and looking at things. The tower is a hike up a lot of stairs but worth it.Written 15 October 2024

Inside, there were a lot of rooms to visit and sometimes it was difficult to figure out what the purpose of the room was. - Flannery520 contributionsDefinitely Worth GoingWe were with a small tour group and had our own tour guide, so I can't speak to a DIY tour, although I did see signs posted throughout the castle. Our guide was interesting and informative. We had free time to wander the castle - plenty of rooms were not on our guided tour. If you're staying in Montreux, you can walk to the castle in under 30 minutes, and the way is paved, shady, and landscaped.Written 20 June 2024
- weluv2laf0 contributionsInteresting CastleWe enjoyed our visit to this castle. We explored on our own which was easy to do with the brochure and signage. Don’t miss the keep and all the weapons of that time. I can’t imagine how strong you would have to be to use one of them. Also the room with all the furniture chests and trunks was nice.Written 24 May 2024

- aA3454BV0 contributionsfantastic themed tour with medieval lunchGreat themed tour immersing yourself in medieval times. The guide walks you through the history of the castle and shares what the everyday life of a regular person and a noble person would look like, including what they would eat, drink, and do. It's a very interactive and captivating tour – an hour passed by very quickly, and I discovered a lot. Both adults and children would definitely enjoy it. After the tour, we had lunch cooked based on medieval recipes in the new café nearby and were offered the opportunity to return to the castle and explore on our own. I think it's amazing value when you consider the lunch, dessert, water, coffee, entry ticket, and the funny and entertaining tour guide (priceless!). I would totally recommend it to everyone! The only thing I would add is that I wish the food servings, plates, and cutlery were more authentic to match the medieval food on our plates. And maybe a little memorable freebie, like a medieval recipe on a scroll, would just exceed my expectations!Written 17 March 2024

Took a train to Montreux from Geneva (1 hour) then the boat to the castle. It was a easy journey. We bought our tickets online but still had to stand in the same line as people buying tickets. We opted not to buy the audio guide as I get overwhelmed with all the information., however if you really want to learn about the castle I probably would recommend it because while there are information signs they are not that great. It just depends on how much you want. It is a lot of uneven walking and many many stairs. I loved the visit we stayed just under 2 hours. We then took the bus across the street back to the train to go home. I say go early as crowds were long by 1pm and it was getting hot since it is summer. My tip don’t buy the wine. The white tasted cheap and the red was just ok.. they lacked depth of good European wine or.. maybe I’m just used to amazing French wines (haha)

We visited Chateau Chillon via the CGN boat tour and it made for a beautiful introduction to the castle from the water. The audioguide is well worth the 6 francs; well-produced and provides as much detail as a tour guide, if not more. The detail in the reconstruction and restoration is outstanding. I'm not much of a history buff, but this castle with the guide had me interested in every single room.

Visited this castle on our trip to Lausanne and it's amazing with the gorgeous views and architecture. The adult ticket costs CHF13.50 and you can buy the tickets at the gate. There's a restaurant in the premises and you can have meals there too. If you're travelling by car, you can park free for 3 hours and if you take the trams, there's one every 10mins.
The château is amazing with great halls, vaults and barracks overlooking thr gorgeous mountains. There are audiotapes as well which guides you through it all. Highly recommended to visit with family as a day out. There's also paddle boarding nearby so that's an additional activity you can do while visiting.

Chillon Castle is an island castle perched on the banks of Lake Geneva. The water castle is the most visited historic building in Switzerland. Ideally located with breath-taking views of the surrounding Alps, the castle is set amidst a lovely picturesque background. On the inside I find that it is not so interesting, perhaps I am not much of a castle enthusiast. There is a charge of CHF12.50 entrance fees.

On a chilly February day, we explored the historic Chillon Castle in Montreux with friends. The castle's location on Lake Geneva provided a picturesque backdrop, making our approach to the castle truly magical. The self-guided tour allowed us to explore at our own pace, discovering hidden chambers, medieval courtyards, and dungeons that echoed the stories of knights and noble residents. The interior, adorned with period furniture and artifacts, offered a glimpse into the daily life of those who once called Chillon home.
One of the highlights was the lakeside terrace, offering breathtaking panoramic views of Lake Geneva and the surrounding Alps. The audio guide provided with our entrance tickets was informative and engaging, narrating the tales of Chillon in multiple languages, adding depth to our exploration. Our visit to Chillon Castle was not just a walk through history; it was a sensory experience, with the echoes of footsteps in ancient halls, the visual feast of centuries-old architecture, and the crisp air from the lakeside terrace creating an immersive adventure.
In conclusion, the Chillon Castle Entrance Ticket in Montreux provided access to a historic site and a key to unlocking a captivating journey through time. Whether a history enthusiast, a lover of architecture, or simply seeking a unique day out with friends, Chillon Castle is a must-visit destination.

Don't miss a visit to this wonderful castle. It was an easy train ride from Lausanne, then a 5 minute walk along the lake to the castle entrance. With our Lausanne transport card valid to Epesses we just purchased a train ticket from Epesses to the castle.
The map/guide provided was very helpful with English explanations of all the rooms. We didn't exactly follow the recommended route thru the castle, to avoid a large tour group. Everything is extremely well maintained, hard to believe the castle is so old. There are lots of stairs, not recommended for folks with mobility issues.

As my title suggests, this is a well-preserved medieval castle with stunning views of Lake Geneva and the surrounding area.
I arrived shortly after opening time at 9am and would advise other visitors to do the same if possible as while I was able to view the castle without it being too busy, large coachloads of other tourists had got there by the time I was done.
I would also highly recommend getting the audio guide in your chosen language as that tells you lots of interesting information about the castle's history on a room-by-room basis for a small additional cost.

This castle is pretty amazing but definitely requires about two hours to visit. We saw some sparse furniture in a few rooms of the castle but most have none. All rooms are intact and some have colors or remnants of colors still present. We were not offered an audio guide, so we didn’t know that one was available, but we later saw other people with them. The written pamphlet they gave us had minimal info in English, so the audio guide is a must.

This castle has been very well preserved and has a very informative audio guide. You can get a good discount on the entry ticket here with the Montreux tourist card but the audio guide costs extra, but is worth it. If you do not want to pay for the audio guide there are very good information boards, interactive points and some audio stands throughout the route through the castle that play some of the same videos. This was a very interesting insight to the historical transfer of power in the region. Highly recommended.

Easily accessible by train, bus or even boat, this magnificent castle with its postcard decor clearly deserves a visit, particularly interesting/informative with the family. I spent 2 hours there with our 4.5 year old son and he really liked it, he even listened to the audio guide and watched the films.
To put it simply, it is well maintained, very clean, well organized. The setting is enchanting with the lake and even a small sandy beach right next to it. The informative side is very present and made easier with the audio guide available in addition at the price of CHF 6.-.
The only logical flaw in my opinion is the ultra-tourist side which inevitably attracts a lot of people and large groups all the time.

If you take the train to VIlleneuve, you don't need the boat. It's about a 5-10 minute easy walk from the station. If you like walking, there is a walkway from Montreux to the Chateaux that is around 20-30 minutes, along the lake.
We took the train to Villeneuve and walked. I spoke with people who walked it from Montreux.
