Do It On Your Own Cruise Ship Option
We arranged this tour, on our own, off a cruise ship. It wasn't quite what we expected, but we enjoyed our day. We thought the meeting point was right off the ship, but through the assistance of the local merchants, we learned we had to take a taxi ride to the bay. We found it somewhat pricey considering it is a 15 minute drive, but it is worth the time and the expense. Alex called for taxis for those who needed rides back to town. It was a perfect day, not too hot and not too cold. Waterproof bags were provided to protect your belongings. Sadly the tour was unable to go onto the island, and you can't get very close. Alex stopped in the water frequently and explained the history of the area. I was fascinated by the protective walls that were built hundreds of years ago, and they still stand. Due to the strong current in a bay, where we were to make our first stop, we ended up paddling longer than expected before taking a break. Make sure you use the bathroom before you start out, and eat a good breakfast, if you are going out in the morning. We eventually stopped for a short break, and had homemade bread and watermelon. I did end up with some pretty sore arms that night, so make sure to take an ibuprofen, if you aren't used to kayaking for 4 hours. This is an opportunity of a lifetime and we really enjoyed ourselves. We highly recommend the trip.

      Once in a lifetime experience
Wow what an awesome experience. We kayaked, snorkeled and explored the beautiful Aegean and coastline, snacked on fresh fruit and orange cake and lunched on stuffed tomatoes(we had a vegetarian). Any level can enjoy and although we had kayaked before, under Alex’s tutelage we upped our game. Was it worth a day of our Greece trip? Absolutely!

      Best Tour I’ve Ever Done!
I have done many of the “adventure oriented” tours in my life that I have really enjoyed, but I consider this one the absolute best I have ever been on. While paddling on the pristine blue water of the bay, our guide, Alex, brought the history to life. He put us in the shoes of people invading and defending Nafplion over hundreds of years and connected everything to the features we could see right from our kayaks. Alex is also very personable, willing to answer any questions about anything relating to Greece and Greek history. We love history, so he indulged us with even more historical and political discussion than he said he usually does. Moreover, the snack break at the beach is an absolutely charming way to spend some time in the beautiful bay. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough, and I am so grateful for how Alex enriched our time in Nafplion. I was deciding between a few options, and I’m so glad we chose to do this. Do yourself a favor and book now!

Adventurous, engaging, informative, and absolutely beautiful.
History should absolutely be taught from the sea, in a kayak, by someone like Alex. He has a way of making history come alive in his stories. He’s so knowledgeable and passionate about his work. Kayaking with him in the sea was absolutely gorgeous. Took a break on the beach to snorkel. Alex provided snacks, including homemade orange bread. Delicious. Thank you, Alex, for a wonderful morning. 100% recommend.

      Best kayak tour ever!!
My wife and I had the pleasure of taking a sea kayak tour with PanExpeditions. Alex, our tour guide was wonderful. He started the tour with a great explanation of how to use the kayak correctly, went over safety instructions and then we were off on our tour. His knowledge of history of Nafplio and the historic sites was very impressive. He was very engaging and took the time to answers any questions we had about what we were seeing. As far as the actual tour, seeing the coast from a kayak was breathtaking and a completely different experience than seeing it from land. We kayaked close the castles and stone wall that guarded the city and viewed it from the prospective of attacking pirates/enemy invaders all while Alex was giving us the historical facts. Alex also brought us to small private beach along the coast where he prepared refreshments and snacks that included a delicious orange cake that was prepared by his mother. The tour was a 10 out of 10 and I highly recommend this sea kayak tour and Alex our tour guide.

      Different Perspective of Nafplion
A different and fascinating way to see Nafplion. Alex is an engaging and informative tour guide. Good tips on basic kayaking technique at the start and plenty of support throughout the trip if you needed it (which we didn’t, just sayin). Gives you a real perspective of what successive invaders faced when trying to take this strategic city. Nice stop for home made orange cake, fruit and a snorkel. Alex has all the equipment including snorkels and the waterproof camera. Fantastic day!

      Kayaking in Nafplio
This was a truly incredible experience for our family. We loved kayaking around the coast- seeing Nafplio and learning about its history in a unique way. Alex was very friendly and experienced- excellent at both guiding the kayaking and also sharing Greek history in an engaging way for both adults and children. Would absolutely recommend!

A stunning way to see and learn about this part of Greece
Kayaking on the azure blue mediterranean to see some spectacular forts that were built to defend Nafplio. Alex brings history to life on this tour. Figure out how as an invading Ottoman you would have stormed a castle. Could you have saved 80,000 lives? This was such a great way to not only learn about Greece's original capital city but also enjoy kayaking among the beautiful scenery here. Our teenage kids loved it. The best experience in Greece we have had.

      Exceptional
As someone who has never written a review before, this kayaking tour with Alex as our guide has inspired me to share this exceptional experience with others. We had the most incredible kayaking tour with an outstanding guide and person named Alex! From the start, Alex's knowledge of the area's history kept us captivated throughout the journey. The snorkel stop during the kayaking tour was simply amazing, with crystal-clear, warm waters, creating a truly unforgettable experience. The delicious homemade orange cake, courtesy of his mother, and refreshing watermelon made the experience even more delightful. The entire tour was a 5-star adventure, and we feel blessed to have experienced it. Alex's generosity and assistance were beyond compare, making our time with him truly unforgettable. He even sent us beautiful and high quality pictures of our kayak journey for free promptly after the tour. If you want to experience the best of Nafplio, this is the way to go!

      History lesson on the water
Alex was a very knowledgeable and fun host. He is well prepared and ready to answer any questions. It’s a great way to learn about the history and he makes it a compelling story. We stopped for a swim and snack at a great little beach. Delicious orange cake homemade by his mother and lots of fresh fruit too.

Highlight of our time in Greece
This was such a wonderful experience for our family and we wholeheartedly recommend it! First, the karathonas beach location is mesmerizingly dreamy… clear blue water that was smooth as glass, surrounded by mountains and several legitimate ancient castles! There were three kayaking guides for our group of 8 (two families of 4 each). This was awesome because there was so much support every step of the way. Alex, the founder and lead, was incredibly charming and so well suited for this. He is a knowledgeable and animated story teller and really enjoys bringing his country’s dramatic military history to life on these outings. We loved that! He also provided fresh snacks, water, snorkeling gear for break time, wet bags, etc... To help us cherish the memories of this amazing day, Alex took several dozen pictures of our adventure and shared them with us on google the same day!!! We had so much fun and found this to be an amazing bargain worth way more than you pay! This may be the highlight of our time in Greece.

A great mix of (relaxed) kayaking, beautiful ancient sites, small beaches, delicious Greek food and a guide passionate with the history and culture of the area.
We had an amazing day with Alex and started with a little kayaking technique teach-in with very useful tips to avoid sore muscles at the end of the day. The water is so beautiful here, it's a dream. Alex made sure everyone was doing ok, chatting on our way about Greek mythology. We stopped to visit the old Epidavros theatre where Alex took us through some local anecdotes, the significance of theatre plays and mythology in Ancient Greece as well as some explanations about the local flora. Back in the water for snorkelling above the Sunken City which everyone enjoyed, it's amazing to see these well-conserved ruins so close under water.
After some delicious snacks, we paddled back to a small creek where the children could swim some more and we relaxed in the shade before a traditional lunch and tasted some fresh sea urchins Alex found for us. Everyone was a bit exhausted and slightly drowsy for the last kayaking part back to Epidavros.
What a day! The whole family enjoyed this little expedition a lot and we welcomed the pictures Alex took of us or we took ourselves when he lent us his waterproof camera. Everyone (including the 3 teens) was excited about the experience and Alex's friendliness and chattiness. He is really engaging as a guide, sharing his theories about the ruins we saw and his knowledge of Ancient Greece.
We highly recommend this tour with Alex. One piece of advice: do not forget to generously and repeatedly apply your sun protection as it's unforgiving!

This is a brilliant activity and I wholeheartedly recommend it. Alex is a lovely fellow and organised the whole thing perfectly. He met us at the waterside, explained the day and had us in the water very quickly. All the equipment was in top-top condition. We visited some lovely beaches, had enormous fun exploring the sunken city with his snorkelling stuff and had a delicious home made lunch. We've done quite a few kayaking trips and I think this was definitely the best, because of his attention to detail and enthusiasm. Even if you've barely kayaked before, it was pretty easy and you should definitely go for it. If nothing else, the scenery is incredible, and Alex himself is such an enthusiastic and attentive guide that you couldn't possibly fault him.

We took our family of 4 with two kids (5 year old and 15 year old) on the Ancient Sunken City Tour and absolutely loved it. Alex was very engaging and shared a lot of great information about the area.

We went in late June of 2022 and had great weather for it. Alex was very accommodating in allowing us to set the pace and modify the tour.

    Highly suggest this tour!

On a day as hot as today, the Ancient Sunken City Tour was like a gift out of heaven. Alex and Iannis took us for a peddle first to an ancient theater, than to the sunken city where we took our time snorkeling and had some refreshing snacks (🍉 and 🍰) and finally to a remote beach where we had a home made lunch 🍅.
I highly recommend this trip because Alex knows his stuff and makes you feel at ease. This day trip was definitely one of the highlights of our stay here in Greece.

This tour was fantastic! Alex and John were very knowledgeable about ancient mythology and shared some interesting theories/stories about the theatre and the sunken city. They even gave us extra info about the big theatre of Epidavros. They took pictures for us and let us take our own photos of the sunken city, which the promptly shared with us after the tour. They gave us plenty of time to snorkel and had a lovely snack of melon and orange cake. The experience is definitely not one to miss!

The sunken city is an experience in itself, as was the visit to the smaller theatre and learning about the importance of these sites. Our guide, Alex has an extensive knowledge about the area and marine life, which he freely shared with us about. The added bonus was the fact that we were the only group that day. Lunch was a lovely meal prepped by Alex's mom. Overall the extended tour made us feel relaxed and gave us pockets of unhurried conversations, learning a little more than we knew about everyday life in Greece.

An extraordinary experience! Kayak is a privileged way to discover Argolida's beautiful landscapes. Our guides were extremely kind and instructive in their explanations about the sites we saw: the Small Theater of Epidavros and the Sunken City. The most special moment for us was to have homemade "gemista" and a good conversation with Alex on a beautiful and discrete beach with views to the Methana volcano ! Forget about your phone: you can use their water-proof camera and be confident that they will take good pictures of you kayaking!

Perfect day. Beautiful kayaking weather- clear and calm. The water is fantastically clear and clean- so beautiful for paddling, swimming, and seeing the underwater ruins. Our guide was super informative, fun and caring. We also loved seeing the "little theatre" at Epidaurus, especially as we had visited the big one the day before. We felt so in touch with the spirit of Greece and the natural world. Thank you for this perfect day.

Alex & Giannis (forgive me if I spelt that wrong), made the trip relaxing and so informational. This experience was a once in a lifetime opportunity and I highly recommend for anyone wanting something nature centered. My partner and I ubered from Athens to Epidavros (2 hrs & about €120) and Alex helped us order a taxi home. The meals, snacks, and cake were just the cherry on top (accommodates vegetarians). We booked very last minute by emailing the company email and their response was so prompt and accommodating, fantastic experience overall!
