        Avoid South Sea Island Cruises.
Heartless company. My daughter booked at 7am for my wife to go on the half day cruise. Unbeknown to her my wife is very sick.. At 9am we tried to cancel my wife's booking. They refused. Greedy animals. $409 down the drain. Avoid South Sea Island Cruises.

        Think could do better
Although rainy season we thought we'd give this a go to explore the sea through snorkeling and the semi submersible and a swim in the sea. Disappointing to say the least. They waited till we'd paid and were checking in before advising the semi was out for maintenance, and the snorkeling took more time to load the boat and get to spot than we were given to actually snorkel- 15 minutes! The lunch provided was not great. They were catering to the full day cruise with the same buffet but it ran from 11:30 - 12:30 and we arrived on the island for the tail end of that. Plenty of seating around the island but not a lot under shelter from rain, so if course you swim - the water was great but you need to take boat shoes as it is coral and quite painful to reach water without them. The cultural show was good.

A little disappointed in the South Sea Island Half Day Cruise
Booked and paid for cruise, went to book in and was told the underwater boat was not available on this cruise because of maintenance - abit late then we should have been told this when booking as it was a big consideration of taking the trip. Then told a different thing on the boat but still unavailable. Got to beach at 12.15pm to be told that lunch was on - we were obviously the tail end of the day long trip as food was dried up and not plentiful - was a real disappointment food wise and wouldn't recommend. Life show was good. Then got ready for the main reason for going - snorkeling trip. Too many people for the 1 boat so got on what I call a inferior boat - to be told that the trip was only 15 mins - not Fijian time but 15mins - pretty unfair when it takes a while to get everyone off the boat. But the time we did have in the water was good and plenty of fish. Because we were on the 2nd boat our only way of getting back on the boat was climbing a very unstable metal rung ladder - very uncomfortable and I think they were extemely lucky to not have anyone hurt - I suffer from a bad leg knee and the pain in attempting to get on the board was extreme - the other boat had a better system and epuipment to go on. Finally back to island and not their fault weather closed in but was still relaxing, drinks were easily got, company was great, locals were good. All in all I think the trip was a little over priced for what we got - they need to do something about timing for lunches and when they let people know equipment isn't working.

Unforgettable day on a beautiful island.
A fantastic day on the island with loads to do and enjoy. We were met on the island with traditional singing. A snorkeling tour was amazing with loads of fish and colourful coral. The buffet lunch was nice and was enriched with Fijian traditional dancing. One could also make use of the kayaks. A really relaxing day which I would highly recommend.

Only go if the weather is super lovely
Positives - the staff were super friendly, the cocktails (which cost extra) were delicious, there is heaps of seating areas and the island is beautiful. If it had been a sunny day we would have happily lounged around and swam in the sea. The kids did as scuba lesson and loved it. Negatives - the submersible was broken, and as we went on a rainy day everything was soaked - beanbags and lounging chairs were so wet so there really was no where dry to lie down and relax. The lunch was pretty awful - chicken drumsticks and supermarket style salad land breads, no real flavour. The massage lady was quite grumpy and seemed like she didn’t want to be there which was a shame as having a massage with the sound of the sea was lovely! Also they have no towels not even to buy so some people ended up really If you don’t care about food, and get amazing weather it would be a great day.

        Family day on the island
Loved this day trip and was amazing for the family. Kids loved snorkeling and the pool. The Dads loved the Fiji Gold and mums even got a few cocktails. What an awesome family adventure.

Half day would be best if you are wanting to relax.
South sea island cruises is a great way to get around to islands. We unfortunately didn’t have the best experience at south sea island. Highlights were the in arrival welcome song and that the staff were all so nice and helpful. Also watching a big volley ball game at the end with the staff and tourists that was fun to watch. I would probably recommend to people who are definitely looking for max relax then this might suit you best as the island is very small and you can walk around in less than 10 minutes. We just were expecting a little more snorkelling ops which you do get 15 mins of and an awesome guide but if the boat is packed it doesn’t make for a great experience. We weren’t able to get on the glass bottom boat as there were too many people which was a shame as I think that might have been better than the snorkelling experience we had as there is definitely a lot to see.

Great First Time- Would Go Again!
During our stay in Fiji, we did the "Combo Cruise" option (spent the morning at leisure with a Fijian BBQ lunch and meke show) at South Sea and then toured a myriad of well-known islands on our way back including "Castaway" and "Survivor") The weather was beautiful so we had many picture-perfect opportunities. The boat ride itself was smooth and safe. We sailed among the Cougar II (lol) which wasn't too big or too small- a comfortable size. The staff were great, the people were great. My only gripe would be that they advertise "unlimited" drinks but it's at the Island only- if you want a snack or drink on the boat, be prepared to make your credit card cry. Overall, a great experience I'd recommend to try!

        FOOL ME ONCE……..So Disappointed!!
Great boat ride to many of the islands dropping off guests that were spending their day at one of the sister islands. We left the port at 9:00 am and it took 2 hours to get to Castaway Island. It rained most of the day but I was very frustrated that the “ADULTS ONLY” pool was taken over by nearly 20 yelling & screaming kids. When I asked the server why they don’t enforce their rules the guy just shrugged and said that the kids don’t like the kids pool. WTF!!! The buffet was just okay and the drinks were good but absolutely watered down or very small pours! Finally one of my biggest complaints was the fact that we got dropped off last AND we were the first ones to get picked up. That means we spent almost as much time getting to and back from Castaway Island as we did actually on the island! We absolutely won’t go back, complete waste of time and money!!

Shark snorkeling is a must do in Fiji!
We had the most amazing time! Great boat ride over to the island. Once you are on shore you go over some paperwork and then head on out to one of the most amazing reefs. We saw so many sharks and fish and they swam right there with us. The guides were incredible and made sure everyone was safe. When you get back to the resort you have a delicious lunch and can enjoy the resorts pool, island or do snorkeling offshore and look at the beautiful reef there. Great day, the views of everything were unreal. We didn’t want to leave and hope to come back and visit again someday. Thank you for a truly amazing experience.

Not as good as it used to be
This was our second time doing this cruise as we also went back in 2019. We loved our first trip, it was great, but second time round just wasn't anywhere near as good. There were so many people that finding anywhere to sit was incredibly difficult. There were speakers blasting club music very loudly across the island all day which made it impossible to sit back, unwind and relax. The snorkling was so rushed, you got 15 minutes and you weren't allowed to look around at all, you had to follow a guide who essentially just swam around quickly before ushering everyone back on the boat. The paid drinks at the bar weren't great and the food was average. Sadly the standard of this trip just isnt like it used to be. Last time we didnt want to leave, this time we were ready for the earlier boat to take us back.

The Fijians know how to enhance an experience with their laughter and positive outlook on life.
My wife and I went on a half day cruise with South Seas Cruise. It was excellent weather but the staff throughout were excellent. From Intake to the team on the cruise plus the Island staff. In particular ,Alfred one of the Tender Boat drivers went above and beyond with his sense of humor and pleasant personality and disposition. I have never witnessed a staff who enjoy their work and are happy and smiling for the guests. We have had excellent experiences in Fiji and this excursion just solidified our high opinion of the country as friendly and hospitable. Daryl & Karen Samson Vancouver BC Canada.

        Below Expectations
Apart from great views on way to Mana Island Resort, everything else was below expectations. No clear instructions and the staff at resort were not friendly. The food included was ok but there were so many flies swarming, there was no way it was hygienic to eat There was a lovely staff doing the Kayaks but any promises of snorkelling were at your own risk and there was really nothing to see underwater. There are far better value and better run day tours. I cannot recommend Sputh Sea cruises. All they cared about was taking my money.

We did the Mana Island Half Day tour (9-3pm), however I would not recommend it. It takes 1hr 30mins to get there, so takes up most of your time. Felt like we just got there, had orientation tour, 30 mins snorkeling then lunch and had to board boat transfer back for another 1hr 30mins.
Very rushed and wished we had whole day there to enjoy the fantastic island.

We didn't actually do the Mana island tour we got a transfer there for a stay at the resort.

Down side - the check-in terminal is chaos, but that is pretty much the same for all the companies that run out of port Denaru. And make sure to board early to get a good seat.

The courtesy bus was modern, comfortable (decent reclining seats) , well air-conditioned with plenty of luggage space - just be aware the pick up from Nadi airport is at the international terminal only. Driver was very good.

Boat itself (catamaran Tiger 5) was modern and clean and it was a comfortable ride. There are lots of different viewing areas, you can move around freely and you are encouraged to say hi to the captain.

The little onboard snack counter is not exorbitantly expensive considering they have a captive audience and they even take UK currency (in fact the ice cream my daughter bought was cheaper in sterling than Fiji dollar).

Staff are super friendly and you get a decent commentary during the trip pointing out the various islands and resorts and a little recent history. You are given plenty of warning prior to arrival at each island and plenty of time to disembark (and embark) and you are not rushed at all. On some of the smaller islands transfer is via a smaller (generally much older) boat.

Views are of course stunning, I would have been happy to stay on for a longer cruise.

This is one of the best cruises you can take to Mana Island. it is a whole day trip. You will have plenty of time to snorkel, swim and enjoy the drinks and food included in the price. You will experience the Fijian hospitality.

One of the worst tours ever. Pickup and the ship transport was fine and normal. Once we reached Mana island resort, everything went downhill.

The lunch buffet was poor, stale and really barely edible.

The snorkelling, supposedly the highlight, was the worst ever. The beach where you are supposed to snorkel in has a like almost 100m of shallow rocks, and it's extremely shallow, like 5cm from your body in a snorkelling position. With the waves and everything it is almost impossible to snorkel and you will get scratched non-stop by the rocks. With your fins and the extremely uneven surface you can't walk either. There wasn't much to see too, even after getting out 100m to the slightly deeper waters. Snorkelling equipment was also poorly maintained. Halfway through the hotel turned off the water supply and there was no toilet everywhere, the public showers, toilet, everywhere was out of water. And no staff could be bothered guests enquiries. For a 5-star resort with room rates going at $450 per night, the state of their facilities is truly appalling.

The guide who was supposed to bring us around was unmotivated, doesn't care about anything at all, and just wanted everything for her own convenience at the inconvenience of all passengers. The ship was supposed to arrive at 4.45pm for the return journey, and at 3.30pm the guide already rounded everyone up and said it was time to go. We reached the jetty at 3.45pm and she brought everyone to a sweltering shed 50m outside the lobby that was closer to the jetty and got everyone to sit there. Guests were saying its hot here and we could sit at the lobby where there are fans and she just plainly rejected their suggestion and said 'please wait here, ship is coming'. And then she promptly retreated to the lobby herself to en joy the cool shade and fans, making everyone wait almost an hour until the ship arrived at 4.45pm. Zero professionalism.Complete waste of time for the tour and not even cheap at all at almost US$100 per person.

      Don't ever book with them.

We read the terrible reviews but they were quite old (pre-COVID) so we decided to give the half day trip to Mana Island the benefit of the doubt. It was a mistake.

We paid about $200 AUD each for a half day cruise departing at 1215. Advertised was a beautiful island, nice cruise and a buffet lunch.

The ferry was well organised and enjoyable to get to Mana Island. Things went downhill as soon as we arrived. We were met by a host who promptly told us we were the only ones for the day trip. We also heard a detailed story of how tired they were was and they'd need to pay for their own lunch on Mana Island. We then walked to the 'resort' which was very, very quiet and TBH, like a children's summer camp. Not sure why we took a day trip to a resort inferior to our own.

We got taken to a cafeteria and told that during low season, there is in fact, no buffet. We were given a snack menu and told we could choose two items that came to $40 each. Chicken curry, burgers, fish and chips were available and one dessert. Our combination of items came to $42 which caused a kafuffle. Food was very average. If no buffet during low season, why not update the description?

After lunch, you can then explore the resort and island. Pool was not nice and we walked around the grounds to get to the multiple look out points. The views are great but the entire island is pretty neglected and not the romantic pacific island experience you might imagine. We tried to get a drink on the beach but they didn't accept cash AND didn't accept card - could only charge to your room - we were not guests, of course.

Thank God it was only a half day trip - we quickly ran out of things to do and it was HOT. Cruise was very nice on the way back.

If South Sea Cruises simply charged the cost of a ferry ride instead of a "half day tour", it would have been fine. To charge around $200 AUD per person , is a joke and a rip off. Avoid this day cruise and by extension, I'd also avoid South Sea Cruises.

You can be sure that you will through away your money. I took the half day tour, the food at the buffet was terrible bad and the restaurant is dirty and full of flies, the resort is old and in very bad condition, two good things are that personal is nice and the sand is white, but the rest is bad. Beach is full of plants and the water is not clear. Not worth it

Really good service. We went on a ferry to our resort and the boat was clean and air-conditioned, they carried out bags and handled them well, and it was very fast. Highly recommend
