Go on The Surf Bus!
This trip has great value and more so right now with the limited number of rental cars available. Our tour guide Sam was friendly, knowledgeable and well organized. He narrated a majority of the bus trip with interesting facts and stories. Consider that this trip covers a visit to a macadamia nut farm, two activities, a visit to a known sea turtle area and a narrated bus tour. We loved the Waimea Waterfall. Entrance fee is covered by the tour if selected as an activity. I checked admission and the cost was $10-20 based on age for admission. There is a place to change but since this is one of the first activities I would recommend coming in your suit with clothes over top. Water was cool, but everyone got in and swam with life vests including my 5 year old. Later for the second activity my cousin and I chose the standup paddle boards. I had not attempted this before so Sam went over the basics with all the newbies. The tips were helpful and I had success. Most families with kids chose kayaking. My understanding is the biking is the most popular during surf season (winter). My husband took our daughter to town for a free lunch since they weren’t doing an activity. He said it took most of the time so they didn’t get to look around as he had hoped. However, the tour company doesn’t have control over restaurant, so we certainly didn’t blame them. This active tour is a winner.

I would highly recommend this tour for those who want to do some activities and not just sit on a bus. I researched a lot of tours and I am glad that I chose this one. I got a deal on Groupon but it's totally worth the full price. The equipment and round-trip transportation alone would cost that much. There was enough time at the snorkeling and kayaking location to not feel rushed. We also stopped at other locations to shop, grab a snack, and take some photos. The tour guide was relaxed, friendly, and informative. It was a super relaxed, safe way to see the north shore and do some activities without all the hassle of renting a car, researching everything, etc.

Our tour is the original tour to allow time on the north shore rather then a boring circle island tour where you get out only 15 min everywhere. Our guides are top notch. Mahalo for taking the original and best north shore activity tour!

Enjoyed the tour and the great colorful commentary. The COVID safety could be much improved though. Spending 6+ hours inside the fully booked bus with no open windows does not feel safe and does not make sense.

Best day trip from Waikiki!
My mom and I booked this excursion 2 days prior to going. Sam was the fantastic tour guide that kept us entertained and taught us lots of interesting history bites as we rose around. We stopped at a Macadamia Nut farm and had plenty of time to snorkel and kayak on our two stops. The bus was comfortable and music was great. Sam shared some music with us on the way home from local artists and it was a nice variety. Highly recommend this tour as the day goes by at a chill pace and you get lots of fun activities in without the hassle of driving or reserving equipment ahead of time.

OMG! This excursion was Awesome! Uncle Kevin was the coolest & funniest Tour Guide! He was very knowledgeable of the island & made the entire day worth the money. I traveled with a 18 month old & Uncle Kevin was very accommodating to her. It was also my son's 18th Birthday & Graduation & Uncle Kevin made sure everyone sang Happy Birthday to him. I'm a Travel Agent & will definitely recommend & send customers to this excursion. It's worth the money hands down!

Take the Surf Bus Tour

The experience was fabulous, but our tour guide known as "Uncle Kevin" was fantastic. He was very informative, he was so upbeat and his energy was contagious.

Uncle Kevin obviously has a wealth of knowledge of the island, with this being my first trip to Hawaii and on another tour the day before, I would recommend you consider The Surf Bus and Uncle Kevin as your guide. You will love it when he sings Tiny Bubbles by the one and only Don Ho and got the whole bus to join in.

I will certainly do a repeat of this awesome day!

Ideal North Shore Touring Experience

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Cousin G. He’s very knowledgeable and we loved his humor.
He was skillful at building rapport between the travelers, which made everyone feel welcome and created a fun atmosphere. It’s also an ideal tour because you get plenty of breakaway time to explore on your own. You get the benefit of learning about the sights and being in a group and also some independent time. It was impressive how Cousin G was able to organize us seamlessly into our choices of activities along the route, throughout the day.

So we went on our trip and had the pleasure of having Uncle Kevin being our tour guide? If he's reading this please know you were fantastic and made me and my girl extremely happy for the whole trip. He was very knowledgeable, understanding, kept us all entertained and we never felt rushed. Homie had all the knowledge and was great with us newcomers to the island. I absolutely loved this tour! I chose Waimea Falls and the paddle boarding. Waimea was breathtakingly beautiful and I'm not even talking about the waterfall. Although it is stunning (take a bathing suit because the water is lovely), it was the botanical gardens that blew my mind. I highly recommend this activity.
The paddle boarding is relaxing - a turtle swam underneath my board and there's plenty taking naps along the river banks for you to see.
The drive up the coast is immaculate - the views and the plants, upon plants, upon trees, really is like something out of Moana!!
We stopped off at the Macadamia nut farm for free coffee as well.
The greatest thing about this tour was the history you learn from the tour guide. He tells many legends of how and why each mountain ridge has taken its shape. He also gives you an in-depth history of Hawaii. It's an entertaining, heartfelt insight into the local's culture, love, and respect for their island.

Fun and informative,
Margie and I had a great day. Kevin was the perfect tour guide (a few Dad jokes, a few corny jokes and lots of fun). Passionate and knowledgeable about his Hawaii especially the North Shore. It was a great mix of sights to see and history. Kevin made everything sound interesting (even the ugly old cement factory that we drove past on the way north… he made me feel as though we should stop and have a closer look….). We are aged in our 70s and nothing was too difficult for us. I would recommend this tour.
