Our guide Joy was exceptional at explaining the tour stops in an interesting and informed way. It was a very enjoyable family outing. We live in a suburb of Atlanta and it was interesting to hear more about Atlanta.

Leigh, our guide, was AWESOME!!! She clearly loves sharing the history of her city with visitors. And it's no surprise to us that she is a college professor as she didn't just talk at us, she included us in the learning process. We LOVED everything about our tour! We highly recommend learning with Unexpected Atlanta.

Wow! Where do I begin? This tour exceeded my expectations for our group of young local teens. Emily was was engaging, funny, and brought to life the excitement and struggles of living in Sweet Auburn. She highlighted our local heroes, the rich and beautiful civil rights legacy of Atlanta, with unique touches like the Madame CJ Walker Museum. This tour is way more than the usual facts about Dr. King’s life. Prepare to be amazed!

Leigh is a fabulous tour guide (and I bet a much loved professor at Oxford college). She conveys so much information with a story-telling style. I learned so much about the civil rights movement spanning decades and almost none of it was what I already knew. Best way to spend a few hours!

We went on the Martin Luther King Jr. History Walking Tour on Oct. 08 and Emily was our tour guide. Emily was so knowledgeable and passionate about the topic that the entire tour was so enjoyable and memorable. This was our first visit to Atlanta and we came away from this tour with some knowledge of Atlanta's role in the the civil right movement. We also learned more about Dr King's personal background that influenced how he became who he was as a leader and a speaker.
If you're visiting Atlanta, we recommend this tour.

Emily out guide made everyone feel at ease. She was a great storyteller. Her background in theater was very apparent! History came alive as we walked along Auburn. We would not have had the same experience or learned all of the significance of many who worked for progression in civil rights. She also gave us tips for our visit to Atlanta. My 18 and 14 year olds enjoyed it- kept their attention & kept them involved!
