Terrible
Sep 2021 • Family
Not recommended to attend. Will never come back and discourage anyone from visiting this place. Absolutely appalling policy to wear masks for 4 year olds which is something that is not stated on the website.

Gift shop full of plastic
Sep 2021 • Couples
This aquarium is full of many beautiful marine creatures. Furthermore it also contains several excellent displays highlighting the harm some human activities do to the oceans. In particular it highlights the problem of plastic overuse.

I was thus horrified to find that almost every item in the gift shop contained plastic or was wrapped in single-use plastic. There is simply no excuse for such inconsistency. The gift shop utterly undermines the message. It is just full of plastic junk. See for example the attached picture.

Praise to the marine exhibits but shame on the gift shop.

Beautiful aquarium
Beautiful aquarium, well looked after. Staff are lovely. Gift shop isnt badly priced apart from the t-shirts. Lovely tanks, all well presented and looked after. I would advice them to give some information out along with their "keep the seas clean" area on how we could support that? As in websites or an organisation people could fund? They do tell you what you can do on a day to day basis which is great but I'd like to get involved and would prefer a recommendation rather than just Googling and hoping I've got a decent place. But, that's not a negative, just a suggestion. The aquarium is beautiful and well worth a visit

Too stuffy
Aug 2021
Gorgeous location. Unfortunately we just found it all far too hot. The queue took ages when we arrived and there was very little air con. The kids were asked to wear masks even though they hadn't needed to anywhere else in Malta. This meant we had to buy them and it caused some tantrums. 4 and 5 are very young to be wearing masks. The aquarium is very well done but as it's all underground, it was stifling down there. It ruined it for us to be honest.

Beautiful, informative, conservation focused and a close up view of sea life
We bought our tickets online before arriving and so saved a couple of Euros each on the entrance price.
Excellent covid protocols throughout the aquarium with temperature checks on arrival. All the staff were cheerful, friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived to the time we left.

Spend time at each tank as there is so much more than you first think in there. The QR codes were brilliant as it helped link to the website and point out what to kook for in each tank.

Loved the walk through aquarium with stingrays and sharks plus much more swimming over and around us.

Massive tanks that you can sit in front of and just spend time relaxing and watching the fish and more.

Not as bothered by the reptiles but if you like snakes etc there is a small room of them too.

Really pleased we spent the afternoon here, would highly recommend. We were an adult couple but the delight shown by many kids going round shows it appeals to all ages.

Not that impressed with the shop, had hoped to see the conservation message carried on here, but instead it was simply full of soft toys and what I would call tourist tat. Shame they would have happily persuaded me to sponsor a fish or animal if asked in the shop or indeed buy an item that in some way helped further marine conservation.

We stopped in the cafe afterwards and had a delightful iced latte and raspberry with mango smoothie. Sat in the chairs on the terrace overlooking the sea, despite the 30’ heat there was a lovely breeze making it a really pleasant place to just sit and watch the world go by.

Highly recommend a visit.

Great way to spend a hot summer afternoon with the kids
Great way to spend a hot summer afternoon with the kids. Sizewise it is not a big aquarium but it is very well laid out with variety of fish. Kids had a lot of fun. Thais, one of the staff member, showed us baby sharks and told us more about the baby shark project. We learned a lot from her about octopuses but also projects aimed at marine conservation. We spent there 1,5 hour and enjoyed every minute of it. If you do not like crowds, enjoy animals/fish, or have small kids, this is the place worth visiting.

Disappointment! (We felt harrased)
Jul 2021
There is a better way to spend Your money than to pay 12 euro/person for being constantly bullying by staff (almost everyone there), who were stalking us whether we wear a mask correctly and harassing if not. Come on, who is happy about anything like that on their holiday!! Otherwise, quite small (done 1 hour) for the amount payed, too. We were a group of even 11 people and everyone agreed on this, moreover, we even regreted to support this organisation with this huge money (for 11 persons) considering their attitude! Well, customer service and human professionalism and kind communication matters! (Especially on such special holiday)

I've got a sinking feeling
With its location and housed within an impressive building we expected to experience a large variety of aquatic life we don't see back home.

Unfortunately this small tour lasted only 20mins with us wondering if we'd perhaps taken a wrong turn a long the way.

We saw most of the same animals on display we would at our local aquarium at home which was an unexpected let down.

For an adult couple this wasn't the best experience Malta has to offer but perhaps better suited to families with children.

Day off with the team
Feb 2021 • Business
We visited the aquarium with our team from work and had such a great time. It is nice how the most beautiful places of Malta have been restructured there and we were able to learn a lot about local fishes but then also from all over the world. Took a nice picture with a shark to decorate our office walls at work a bit :-)
Everyone was extremely friendly, welcoming and they went out of their way to show us a great time. We went to the restaurant there afterwards where the food was just amazing and the service couldn‘t have been more attentive. Highly recommended!

animals need abit more space
Feb 2020
Loved to see all the fish and sharks and jellyfish, however...they don't have a lot of space to swim in. The jellyfish aquarium was cool. Duration around 2hours as we had a tour too. We went sometime in 2019.
